   Our first time here; we came for the cassoulet and my husband enjoyed it very much. I had a good salad and the mussels, both of which were tasty. We visit SF once or twice a year and I would recommend this restaurant as a casual spot with very good food at reasonable prices. The seating was cramped but that’s part of the restaurant’s charm.

   Since Le Central was rebooted several years ago by staff it's had a bit of a revival. I'm not a fan of the cassoulet, but that aside all the other choices I've had have been very good. What I really like is that it's not a casual restaurant, yet it feels very unpretentious. A lot of that comes from the friendly but direct no-nonsense service. The service is great, but it's not obsequious, and I like that.

   I wanted to eat duck but the restaurant didn’t have a complete meal of duck. My server Lindsay tried very hard to find a dish with some duck. She recommended a salad with duck confit. It was delicious

   As it says, a classic French bistro. A mix up with the wine list that is changing, but still many moderately priced French bottles.

   The petite tartine of smoked salmon with capers was a good start. The bread was decent but had higher expectations given it was a French restaurant. Desserts again okay but higher expectations. Got seated immediately which was a plus. Attentive but not overly consuming waiter which was nice. The fish was overly sauced and heavily lemony. Escargot again decent but given the French classification had higher expectations. Salad with goat cheese was again decent but higher expectations. Overall if I wanted the ambience of a French location on a rainy day I might try it for brunch but it would not be a top go to.
