Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Chef Rob Feenie

From the OpenTable editors: This French fine-dining icon has dazzled Vancouverites since 1983. Legendary chef Michel Jacob passed the torch to his friend and Iron Chef America winner Rob Feenie in 2024, and Feenie still celebrates the restaurant's French origins while incorporating some of his West Coast roots. Expect Dover sole deboned tableside in an herb beurre blanc, steak tartare, and other classics served in an elegant white tablecloth dining room.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the exceptional experience I had at your restaurant in celebration of my girlfriend's birthday. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the entire team worked seamlessly to ensure that we felt welcome and well taken care of. The sommelier’s recommendations were excellent, and the duck dish we enjoyed that evening was, without a doubt, the best I have ever had. I regret not having the opportunity to personally thank the chef for such an outstanding dish. For me, however, it was not just the food that made the evening special—it was the wonderful atmosphere and the impeccable service that truly stood out. The memories created that evening are far more important than the meal itself, and I am sincerely grateful for all of your efforts to make it so unforgettable. Thank you once again for making the occasion so remarkable.

Food and service was excellent, but the price point being nearly double what it used to be was a bit of a shock! They should put the prices on the website if they intend to ask $80 for a main course.

Very disappointed!!! I used to visit often and celebrated engagement here before Rob started to run it. I reserved a table for my birthday. The food was meh. The service was BAD. The pauses in between was too long. The server literally forgot my main course. All my friends had to wait with me and our food got cold. Nobody cared to fill up our water and take away plates. We had to ask for cake and still waited for 30mins. Then we had to ask for forks. The server ignored us intentionally after we paid, after the manager came to apologize. We’ve never experienced such heartless and ignorant service at any fine dinning restaurant. We really miss the old Le Crocodile.

Le Crocodile is renowned for its incredible food, and my visit last night lived up to that reputation. We opted for the chef's selection, which offered spectacular value and was absolutely delicious. However, the experience had its ups and downs. Our initial server was extremely quiet, lacked engagement, and didn’t explain the dishes when they were served. Toward the end of our meal, a new server took over, which brought some improvement. We had reserved bar seats, but the setup looked cramped and not well-prepared. Thankfully, they accommodated us with a table for two near the bar. While the table itself was fine, being near the entrance meant that every time the door opened, a cold breeze came in, which made my fiancée uncomfortable. I had prepaid online for the chef selection, but the waiter initially didn’t account for this on the bill. Fortunately, the mistake was corrected promptly. Overall, the food was excellent, but there’s room for improvement in service and seating arrangements to make the experience as polished as the cuisine.

The food and service is outstanding. But the tables are pretty closed to each other. It was our anniversary celebration so we expect a better environment

Still grieving the loss of Michel Jacob’s Le Crocodile. The new Croc is much more casual, like an upscale Cactus Club. Likely this new iteration will appeal to a wider audience and demographic but not to those of us that valued true fine dining.
