   The menu wasn't very appealing. I took le paysan and was surprised to see how different it was from previous years. No potatoes, just a rectangular fried potato. it arrived with a big portion of beans which we know is not expensive, and the sausage tasted awful. Additionally, it was the first time we were charged for jam, usually they offer bread, butter and jam but we had to pay 3$ for a small portion of jam. Finally, given that it was mother's day, and my mom's birthday, I would have expected a personalized touch to enhance my mom's experience. Last year, they offered a tulip for each mom but this year, there was nothing. I have noticed other restaurants in the area that were celebrating mother's day with a more personalized touch, I should have gone elsewhere instead.

   Hello Alexandra, We were very disappointed to read your review, but also glad that you wrote it because it pointed out some things we need to watch. We are in the process of revamping our brunch menu. Most dishes have been very successful. Others have split the vote and one or two still require tweaks. It's tough to nail everything on the first try. As for the sausage, it must've been a mistake. We haven't changed the recipe. The jams have been an extra on the menu for a few years now. They're all homemade. Our promise to our guests is that by the time we're done, you'll be able to enjoy the nicest Parisian-style "brunch chic" in town.    Always welcoming with professional Oyster bar and many of our favorite foods. Great wine selection. The Salmon, Canard confit, and French Onion Soup were perfect and among the best we have ever tasted!

   We had a wonderful experience for dinner. The escargot, the potatoes, dauphinois , and crème brûlée were incredible. Our server was Mina. She was professional and personable and took very good care of us. I recommend eating here, but I would sit at a regular table or the bar for a meal instead of the high top table. It was too tall for me. If I find myself with a wonderful fortune to dine again in Montreal, I would eat here again, but I would request a window table when making my reservation

   Tables too close together. Service was very impersonal. Felt like we were part of an assembly line. Food was good. French onion soup was great.

Something must've happened the day you visited to distract your server. As for the tables being too close, yes, there are some areas of the dining room closer than others.     if pressed to say what was my favourite restaurant in Montreal, i would say it is the Pois Penché. from the moment you walk into this elegant dining room (one of the prettiest in MTL), you are in competent hands. need a recommendation for the wine? at your service. a special order? no problem! everything goes smoothly for the duration of your stay. the bouillabaisse was delicious and full of fish an d shellfish, the confit de canard was generous and crispy. the price is somewhat above an ordinary restaurant, but it is easy to find more expensive restaurants in Montreal that don't have the finesse of this delightful spot. they serve a lovely brunch, too! don't forget to call for a reservation.
