   Unpretentious with casual ambiance. Server was fantastic, exuded upbeat & engaging energy throughout our dining experience. I never felt rushed. My reservation changed from 2, 4,5 back to 2 - the host was unbothered each time & more than accommodating to update the number of guests ( a portion of the party had a fender bender while en route). The smoked salmon tartine deconstructed was excellent - the salmon was delicious & buttery! French onion soup stock was rich and comforting. The blood orange spritzers with a sprig of rosemary was served in a healthy glass & complimented my afternoon break from reality!

   Everything looked amazing… the restaurant decor, ambience, the food and drinks, but unfortunately the food didn’t deliver. My quiche was dry, probably from being reheated, and it was way too salty, along with the salad. The béchamel sauce on my husband’s croque madame was separating, like it had been reheated too, and his french fries were room temperature. So disappointing, especially for the price point. The only item I enjoyed was the hot chocolate, which was very, very thick and rich. It was more like fondue than hot chocolate, but I was prepared given the description. The wait staff was really friendly, which was the one redeeming quality.

   This was our third or fourth visit to Little Frenchie. We usually stop her for dinner before seeing a show at Lamb's Players Theatre as was our visit this time. We had an absolutely delightful meal. We started with two glasses of the Champagne of the month which was delicious. My wife had Moules Frites and I had Duck a L'Orange. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious. My wife couldn't finish the generous portion of mussles and I did the noble thing and finished them. I'm not a particularly enthusiastic mussles fan, but these were plump and sweet and the accompanying white wine, garlic broth was spectacular. We finished with espresso and the Gateau of chocolate which was terrific and large enough to take about 1/2 home. Service was friendly and attentive. Our next visit may be just to savor the excellent dishes presented at this superb establishment.

   Visiting Coronado is nostalgic for me as my parents would bring us to visit Hotel Del Coronado whenever we returned to our old hometown of San Diego to visit. I recently moved back to SD and decided to visit a different area of Coronado to have lunch at Little Frenchie to celebrate my Mom’s bday. My mom had passed away a few years ago. It was devastating to witness her decline and so to try to brighten my spirits on her birthday and celebrate the beautiful being she was, I try to do things that she would have enjoyed. And that’s where Little Frenchie comes in. I saw an Instagram reel about their French Onion soup (my mom’s fave soup) and saved it for that time when I could make it over to Coronado. Well, the time was 11/6/24, my mom’s birthday, and I also happened to have the day off, so Little Frenchie made its way into my plans for the day. Pleasant ambiance and the service was excellent - just the right balance of being attentive while also providing space to enjoy the meal. My mom would have loved The Onion Soup Gratinee. I know I did! The presentation was eye-pleasing and the flavor was not overly salty. Just the right amount of onions to highlight them and do I love a good ooey-gooey cheese to top it off! Didn’t clump, kept its ooey-gooey goodness throughout and was surprisingly easy to eat and enjoy. I also had the beet salad. Again, well balanced - crisp, fresh, and flavorful. Most beets salads I’ve tried have such heavy clumps of beets that it weighs down the rest of the salad. I also tried the Spritzer flight to drink, which was great because I couldn’t decide on one flavor. What topped off the meal and stood out for me was the manager stopped by my table to simply and beautifully acknowledge that she read my Open Table note about celebrating my Mom’s birthday and later brought out a crème brûlée dessert with a candle in Mom’s honor for me to make a wish. Lovely gesture. Literally, food for my soul. Overall, a great dining experience. Would recommend.

   They sat a non-service dog next to us inside. The dog was not wearing a vest or anything else that designated it as a service dog. When asked by the staff if it was a service dog, the owner said “he demands good service.” Like haha. No thanks. When we said something, the hostess shrugged her shoulders. We paid for our drinks and left.

Management asked the guest the appropriate questions we are allowed to ask and the guest stated the dog was a service animal. We truly hope you will consider a visit back to Little Frenchie under different circumstances.

    Excellent food- the haricot very are incredible- the gnocchi too! Steak frites are incredible Le and the chocolate cake is a huge portion of I think the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten! Thank you Little Frenchie for making our anniversary soooo special!
