    As part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, two plant-based icons unite for “SoCal to South Yarra.” Los Angeles’ Gracias Madre and Melbourne’s Lona Misa come together to celebrate Latin flavours with a focus on sustainability and seasonality. Gracias Madre, led by Executive Chef Diana Briscoe, pioneers plant-based Mexican cuisine, while Lona Misa, helmed by Shannon Martinez and Executive Chef Pamella Tomio, redefines Latin-inspired vegan fare. This collaboration offers a curated menu, blending both restaurants' flavours, starting with a cocktail on arrival. “SoCal to South Yarra” runs at Lona Misa from Friday, 21 March to Sunday, 30 March.

    Dined at Lona Misa for early dinner on Valentines Day. I’ve wanted to come here for a long time having heard lots of good things. We ordered 4 small plates to share with a view to ordering a main meal after that. The food was very tasty & beautifully presented however everything was so full of chilli we couldn’t enjoy some of the dishes. The croquettes were amazing, but the black bean tacos & the king oyster mushrooms were way too hot. I’m not a spicy food fan but my friend is & she found it too hot. I ordered the red hot chilli pepper cocktail & again couldn’t drink it as it was just too spicy, however the wait staff were amazing & first brought me soda to add & the exchanged it without me even asking. They said there had been too much chilli added by mistake. The Pina Colada I got instead was delicious. We didn’t feel like a mains after all the chilli,but as it was my birthday I then had the Tres Leches dessert which was AMAZING!! They even brought it out with a candle for me. The staff were all fantastic, very attentive, although we did feel a little rushed. This was understandable as it was Valentines & I’m sure they had lots of bookings. All in all, we enjoyed the evening & will be back to try less spicy dishes in the future.

    This was a wonderful experience to share with friends!! Such excellent food, an interesting and well thought out menu and also really well communicated by the menu and staff. The service was also fantastic all round - We really appreciated the way we were welcomed and looked after - dietary requirements (COELIAC) included - and the staff seemed really knowledgeable and proud of the food too, which was fantastic!!

    Absolutely amazing plant-based restaurant! Best vegan food I've had, tasting menu was great and I was stuffed by the end! Service was excellent and I'd recommend the pico at the disco cocktail!

    Don’t get me wrong, the food was alright. However, I was surprised to see a hat award on the wall. Food was extremely overpriced, and service, while people were nice, was nothing out of the ordinary. Especially in terms of presentation, and little to no conversation from the section waiter. Hatted restaurants are a cut above the rest and it shows in their attention to detail, in which Lona misa lacks on all fronts. You’ll need a serious overhaul to maintain that hat, let alone gain another.

    The enviorment was super cool, nice vibe for a quiet date night or for special dinner. Service was ok, staff was friendly but they looked a bit busy, not explaining the dishes properly, and have to ask them a few times to inform us what food we were having. Food was good enough, but for value and price is lacking of more creativity or a more plant based experience. Some dishes using same sauce, meat kind of imitation (which is ok, but not what we were looking for) and some well executed classics (as croquettes), but without anything in special. As advice, next time you offer to "surprise" vegetarian costumers, offer them something more plant related.

    We had the degustation with matching wines. Excellent food and beautiful wines. We stayed upstairs in the Rockstar Suite, which added to the experience.

    The food and atmosphere speak for themselves—truly amazing! I am not vegan, but I am constantly impressed by the quality of plant-based cuisine available these days, and Lona Misa stands as a keystone of this evolution in my eyes. For my fiancée's 30th birthday, the team went above and beyond (in just the right way) to help us celebrate. If you're looking to mix things up and enjoy world-class dining as a meat eater, this is the place to go. And if you're a vegetarian, you should already be well aware of this incredible dining spot!

    Amazing variety. Went with the tasting menu as we didn't want to decide what to get. We have been recommending to everyone we can. It's absolutely beautiful
