Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

Venture off the Strip to feast on dishes like roasted duck curry and drunken noodles in a lively dining room dressed with vibrant murals. Add in exceptional pairings from the award-winning 300-bottle wine list, and it’s easy to see why this Vegas institution is beloved by locals and industry insiders alike.

Lotus’ reputation is big and my expectations were high. The restaurant is very pretty and we’ll designed. Food was clean, well prepared and tasty…..but nothing I’d call exceptional or worth going out of your way for. Same with the cocktails. The manager recommended the Lychee Blossom and Hotline Bling. Good but not OMG cocktails. $100 for two drinks and three plates. I’ve Had better Thai in LV for the same or better price many times.

Amazing first time experience! It lived up to the hype. Our favorite dishes were the khaki so with duck and the Chilean sea bass with ginger.

Service was very lackluster even though there was a big crowd outside and inside the lobby area of the restaurant. The portion of each dish is very small compared to the price you are paying, everything was over-salted, which completely ruined my palette for the night. The way the food came out was luke-warm, did not look very appetizing at all. For $32, you get a few pieces of beef and 5 strands of noodles. This was supposed to be the best Thai Restaurant in Vegas? I don’t think so, especially when management did not care to greet their guests and started eating their meal in front of customers…

Hosts were great and accommodating. This USED to be my favorite Thai spot when we visit Vegas. The food quality has declined so much. Execution isn't up to par at all. The popular duck khao soi dish was so disappointing this time. They used old duck cooked in old oil. The duck meat was dry, overcooked, chewy, and tasted so old. They served us Pad see ew with noodles that were mush. We asked for a replacement and they acknowledged that they knew it's a new noodle brand they are using that gets mushy, so we didn't get a new one. The server was obviously overworked and overwhelmed. They need more workers so it's less stressful. The server's helper who kept refilling our water was great and attentive. He was also working very hard. It's a beautiful restaurant, but not sure why the majority of people who came were in workout gear/sweats. So sad.

Food was good, but overpriced for what you get....the waitress did not seem to space our courses correctly...she brought what I ordered as an entree 1st even though we had ordered two appetizer quite some time before that. The best things were the garlic shrimp and the crab fried rice, although the rice did not have much crab, and was a small portion. My wife had two coffees and they were $7 each....just americanos nothing fancy. I would go back just for the garlic shrimp.

The entrees looked like appetizers. And this food was not inexpensive. Pad see ew. We asked for shrimp. Had no idea but it was $42. Who charges $42 for a noodle dish? They forgot to put beef in our stir fry. They said it would be a few minutes. We asked every 10 minutes. It took 45 minutes to bring the correct dish. They took it off the bill but it was $36. This isn’t a casino. We live in Vegas and have eaten there over many years. Not sure how much longer they think they will stay in business serving small plates of typical Thai dishes for prices like these.
