Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

    The cocktail glass had an unfortunate smell. They replaced it. The crispy duck presented well but tasted gamey. The spice level was way above 2 (requested). They brought some curry sauce to dilute. The Masaman curry was ok, but leave out the ridiculous cherry tomatoes. They brought us the wrong check, not even close to our order. Did not approach the experience at the west Las Vegas location.

    The food was amazing! Our server was excellent (wish I could remember her name). We aren’t super familiar with Thai cuisine, but she did a great job making small suggestions so that all the dishes seemed complimentary to each other. We are only in Vegas for a week, but we might go back a second time we enjoyed it so much.

    Definitely try the prawn appetizer and the drunken noodles!! So delicious and we ate every bit of it. Service was amazing, very attentive

    Thai food done right! Great atmosphere in a refined setting and service on point to near faultless. One of the numerous off-strip restaurants that set the dining bar for Las Vegas. Cannot wait to come back.

    When we received our food, it was not hot so we sent it back and they redid it. The food and service was good.

    Underwhelming! It’s just overpriced Thai food in a dated and loud busy setting. The meal was fine but it lacked the Wow factor that this place supposed to be famous for. Roasted duck was very gamey and dry.

    I have eaten at Lotus of Siam at least 30 times so I have a good baseline on the food. Last night the dish that I often order went downhill. I did not like it, it was different and when asked by two servers how was everything I told them both the dish had changed and I did not like it I felt like I was talking to a robot who was programmed to ask how the meal was but never programmed with a response in the event someone did not like the food. They both said nothing and left the table.
