Nestled in a 1920s mission-style home in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, Lucille's specializes in well-refined Southern cuisine with infusions of international techniques and flavors. The restaurant serves as a tribute to the culinary tradition began by Executive Chef & Owner Chris Williams’ great-grandmother, Lucille B. Smith, who was a culinary pioneer and successful entrepreneur who founded her own food corporation. Since my initial dining experience at Lucille’s in 2018, I found the culinary offerings to be consistently exceptional. However, recently, the quality has declined to a level I would describe as merely acceptable. While the presentation and texture of the dishes remain commendable, there is a notable deficiency in seasoning that renders the flavors somewhat bland and unremarkable. This change raises questions about whether there is an operational focus on expediting service, potentially at the expense of flavor integrity. Whatever the reason, a change needs to come.

I booked for Valentine’s Day. Outdoor seating. It was changed to indoor and I ate dinner in someone’s dirty attic on a $30 Walmart folding table with metal chairs, loud noise all over, and the food was cooked wrong and needed sent back. I’ve never had a worse dining experience that cost $250 in my entire life. I’m not kidding it was by far the worst experience, almost embarrassing.

This is a definite go to place. The food is excellent! We try and sit wherever Quincy is as he is absolutely the best. Everything we have ever ordered has been top notch. We particularly love the fried green tomatoes and chili biscuits. Put this on your list of go to restaurants!

The food was delicious and well seasoned, yet a bit overpriced. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. I was a little surprised at how underwhelming the atmosphere was. With the menu prices, and valet parking, I expected something more inside the restaurant. It was clean and tidy, but the decor was old and cheap looking. That said, I will return for the delicious food, but if you’re looking for a fine dining experience, this is not it.
