Dumpling enthusiasts and champagne lovers alike can indulge in in the elevated, yet unpretentious fine-dining experience offered in this sexy, and intimate underground hideaway. The menu honors Cantonese classics with dishes like Xiaolongbao and Char Siu Bao, while creative offerings such as Foie Gras Blackberry Dumplings with Brown Butter Miso Crumb showcase culinary innovation in this celebration of Chinese American fare. A deep champagne and wine list complements the menu, and at the 14-seat Pink Italian Stone bar, classic cocktails are shaken up with unique spice combinations and Asian-produced liquors, like a Manhattan riff “Doyer’s Street” made with Chinese five-spice infused Bourbon and Fernet Michaud from Portland, ME

The food was ok. Underwhelming. Some of the dumplings were still cold and frozen in the center while the egg rolls were fried to death. The food also feel short with seasoning and spice.

The setting: Went here for a friends birthday with 3 couples. I let the restaurant know on our reservation it was our friend's birthday. The wait staff recommended 2-3 dishes per person. Each couple ordered 4-5 dishes and one beverage for each person. The ambiance is dark but beautifully decorated, moody, and luxe. The noise level was moderate, it was easy to have a conversation and the music wasn't too loud. 90s/ 00s/ 10s hip hop and R&B was playing during our visit. Now for the experience: We ordered relatively quick upon arrival. The waitress was attentive, but the service was overall very slow. Our drinks took a very long time to come out. We ordered two "fancy" drinks and the rest were simple beers/ sodas. We had to toast our birthday girl with water because we were waiting so long. The first thing to come out was a cucumber dish that was very delicious and unique. Then our other small plates arrived. All of them were Asian-fusion type dishes that were nothing to write home about. We all felt they were trying very hard but not in a productive way; Beef claiming to be wagyu was chewy and sinew-y. Lobster and crab were more like tuna salad, etc. The dessert menu was very random and did not at all reflect an Asian fusion menu. Considering the exorbitant prices as well. Then the drinks arrived. We were all happy with the drinks besides the delay. Then things got annoying: We were almost finished eating and I tried to order a piece of cake and I was hoping the waitress would take the hint, but she sporadically brought over a very small, awkward sip of "sparkling wine" for our birthday girl. She then brought the coconut cake, which was spectacular. It was jumbled and random and not very cohesive. We were hoping the cake would be complimentary, not the awkward sip of champagne, considering we had a $600+ tab. Gratuity was included because our party was large. In sum, worth a visit maybe once or to enjoy some bougee drinks. We won't be back for a meal again.

Horrible experience from start to finish. My drink took 20 minutes to arrive and the waiter was shocked when I didn’t want to order my meal til I got my drink. Finally they realized it was taking a ridiculous amount of time and comped our first round. Food was ok / came out randomly with long chunks of time in between. Our broccolini took 40 minutes to come out and it was so burnt it was inedible. They comped this as well. We didn’t ask but I think they could see it did not look appetizing when they dropped it off. They blamed our service to being slammed - which I get. However, three tables around us that came in after us had ordered eaten and paid by the time some of our food came. Very pretty restaurant but so many better options in Portland.

The space is beautiful and the hostess gave us a warm welcome. The four of us sat and admired our surroundings - a beautiful bar & many riffs on the cheetah theme. It took a while for our server to appear to get us started. The cocktails we ordered - The Salty Dog and one that was green with cilantro were the highlights of our visit. The food did not win us over. We splurged and tried many of the small plates and found nothing memorable. We liked our one large plate order - Oxtail and broad noodles the best. Wagu Eggrolls were just that and nothing more to enliven the beef or add a bit of contrast. The Lucky Bags were exciting to see come to the table and were disappointing to taste. We did all enjoy the Hot and Sour Soup which was a thicker version than any of us had tried before, almost a porridge. It was tasty with nice cubes of tofu. The soup dumplings were good, the Brussel sprouts were also good, the Char Sui Bao were bland and did not offer any flavor beyond the shredded meat filling. This restaurant has bold decor and distinctive cocktails. We all agreed we would return to sit at the warmly lit bar and have a cocktail.

All the food was delicious, our server was really sweet and helpful, and the space is so fun! Definitely stop in, and especially if you used to go to Old Port Tavern and want to be floored by the remodel of the space.
