Everything about this experience was a bit odd. We were staying in the hotel and booked dinner based on the photos on their website, with hindsight the lack of sample menu ought to have been a red flag.
The dining room was tired and dated. Miss matched glassware. Plastic folder menus. Those metal table numbers you get in greasy spoon cafes. They were playing a weird playlist that did not fit the clientele at all. At one point the Pedro Pedro Pedro featured heavily on TikTok with the dancing racoon was on.
The menu was uninspiring, soup of the day was tomato. We joked it would be Heinz with a swirl of cream on top. The table next to us ordered it and we were bang on. I ordered heritage tomato and burrata salad. I was presented with 10 small quarters of unseasoned tomatoes that had been poorly stored resulting in a cold, woolly flavourless fruit. The burrata consisted of 4 white blobs of what could have been anything scattered amongst the rubbish tomatoes.
Mains were steaks that had so much pepper on they hurt your tongue. When they cleared our starters we ordered a bottle of red wine to go with the steaks. It took them 20 mins to tell us that they didn’t have any of that particular wine by which time we were practically finished.
The food arrived bizarrely quickly, I realise this seems like an odd complaint but it just made everything feel rushed.
Desserts were ok.
The staff were nice abd doing their best in an odd setup.
