   We alway love Melvyn’s when in Palm Springs. The place takes you back to the glamour and class of anther era and the food and service are awesome!! Our waiter Scott in particular was the best!! We would recommend it highly as a must see in the area!!

   Was expecting the whole old school downtown vibe. Instead we were seated in the closed in patio area. Inside area would have been much better. For the money, I would have chosen somewhere else. I was very disappointed to say the least. I don’t recommend and I won’t be back.

   Like many we came for the gloss of an old fashion steak house lounge. Food was good and traditionally prepared. However, servers all seemed burdened with too many tables, rushing about in beleaguered fashion. Made it feel very assembly line like and given pricing that is a basic failure. More disturbing was served wined with multiply chipped rim and when I pointed this out to maitre de, he replied, with no concern, that he had ordered new ones but they had not yet arrived. Finally, waiter exchanged for non chipped one, although the proper response would have been to replace with a new bottle. And last charging to park when there are no other options seems cheap/charm draining. We recommend skipping this place.

   The food was great, ambience was great and the service great. Our server, Daniel, was outstanding. Great experience. This restaurant has become our family special events place.

   In a word our experience at Melvyn’s was awful. It was billed as a New Year’s Eve extravaganza yet it turned out to be anything but. They claimed to have live music and there was no music. They had a lounge, which looked more like a funeral parlor. We arrived at 9:00 and anticipated going out afterwards but it took 21/2 hours to serve an appetizer, entree and dessert. The New Year’s event was billed as a price fix dinner for $225 per person yet many items had an up charge. With the meal and 2 cocktails each dinner for 2 cost more than 700. All of the dishes were mediocre. We really liked our waiter who repeatedly apologized for how slow the service was. We would not recommend Melvyn’s to anyone; its time has clearly come and gone.
