   Had friends from out of town. Went for the ambiance, which is still there. We probably should have asked for seating in the bar in order to hear the pianist. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The deviled eggs and shrimp cocktail were good. The Beef Wellington was a bit more than medium rare and the sides were cold. The waiter brought another dish of sides as soon as he could. It was just “ok” all around.

   Very relaxing atmosphere. Steak frites were very good but we have had better. Bananas foster delicious. The entire dinner a bit pricey the $5 charge for bread was worth it.

   Great service by Brandon and the team. Filet mignon was cooked perfect. Medium rare. I am a fan of Frank Sinatra. Brandon did a great job of pointing out some history of the restaurant.

   I had a very nice time and so did my hubby whose bday we were celebrating. We were shown to “Melvyn’s” table and its significance was told to us. The host and our waiter were both lovely people. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Delicious!!

   Loved this old school restaurant. Definitely order the beef Wellington. The only thing lackluster was the Caesar salad. It was actually wilted, no dressing, just bad.

   The service at Melvyn’s was outstanding (5/5). Our server José was the best and it was a thrill to watch him prepare a Bananas Foster at our table. The cocktails—a Vesper and a Paper Plane—were outstanding (5/5). Food quality overall was very good (4/5), with the French Onion soup being a standout. I had read negative reviews of the Beef Wellington, but it was done to perfection at medium rare, enclosed in a flaky, golden brown pastry. A bit on the pricy side at $140 per person, but that was expected going in. Well worth it for the experience of an iconic Palm Springs institution. The only disappointment was the attire of most patrons. Knowing there was a dress code, my girlfriend and I dressed accordingly. We do like to dress up. Not super fancy, but I wore a nice shirt, jacket, and dress pants. My girlfriend wore a nice dress. Seeing most patrons dressed like they were at an Applebees was a bit of a let down.

    We alway love Melvyn’s when in Palm Springs. The place takes you back to the glamour and class of anther era and the food and service are awesome!! Our waiter Scott in particular was the best!! We would recommend it highly as a must see in the area!!
