   The food and the service was great. Took one star off because they charged 3% more if you use a credit card! I’ve never been out fine dining and had a 3% charge added for paying with a credit card. That has only happened to me a a frozen yogurt place. Our bill was $300 for 2 people. Who carries that much cash with them to pay for dinner? Ridiculous to add 3% to a bill for using a credit card for fine dining.

   We arrived early for our reservation but were seated immediately! Overall, the food was very good and cooked to perfection. Our party ordered the Oyster Sampler, the grilled shrimp cocktail (a bit different but delicious), the salmon platter and two filet mignons. I subbed regular fries for my baked potato and it was difficult not to eat all of the generous portion on my plate. For.service, it was lacking just a bit, but perhaps it was just a lack of staffing as our waiter was very friendly and made no mistakes. The wait time in between seeing him or any other server was a bit too long for an establishment with these prices and perceived class of restaurant. Overall it was a lovely meal with family on Christmas Eve though, thank you.

   We came for Christmas Eve dinner and had our favorite server, Stephen, who provided us with excellent service, making for a very special celebratory meal. We had a cheese platter with charcuterie and a lovely bottle of wine. For dinner we enjoyed a center cut filet with Oscar sauce, absolutely amazing. We also had the surf and turf and Stephen recommended the lobster deep fried, a first for us, and it was so good and the NY Strip was prepared perfectly and seasoned deliciously. Key Lime Pie to go, and if you have never come here and are thinking of one of the well known steak houses around N. Scottsdale, we highly encourage you to stop in. Also, the ambience here is cozy and the bar area is where we like to be seated. So glad we came here for a wonderful dinner.

   Cat a the the staff at Modern are the best. We went there for Thanksgiving 2 years ago and were pleasantly surprised with the menu and attentive staff. We’ve now become regulars. Alec and Liam are among the best bartenders in the east valley/north valley (Oscar and Doug as well as Adam respectively at their joints are right there)! Cant say enough good things about Modern!

   As good as the food was and as inviting as the ambience is, they didnt come close to the excellence of the entire staff. I haven’t seen a staff this professional, efficient, courteous and friendly as the staff was tonight in a long, long time. They all take their craft seriously and it shows. A ppor staff will cause you not to return but a great staff will insure that you will return. Whenever we come back to Scottsdale, Modern will be our first stop for dinner.

    Always great. Bone in filet is the best. Sides are awesome. Love the fried oysters. And Cat is pretty cool too.
