   Overall was looking forward to trying out Modern Steak but after this experience unlikely be giving a second chance. Service was not great at all. Dinner took 3 hours and 30 minutes. Food order took 1 hour and settling bill took 40 minutes. The steaks were not well cooked but the sides and drinks only thing that was good. An auto gratuities of 20% for food and service wasn’t told to us prior to booking or sitting. Not expecting much of a response from Modern steak.

   We had a great time last night and the service was excellent. We loved the fact that the staff reminded us and remembered that we got engaged at the restaurant. That was Very special to us. Thanks for a great time!

   The music was a bit loud, but everything else was bang on. The food was excellent, the staff were helpful at explaining things we may not have known, and the tables aren’t jammed in close together like some of the other trendy spots in Calgary. Will go again

   After our second visit to Modern Steak Southport, I’m left feeling underwhelmed and unsure if I’ll return. While the restaurant has a reputation for high-quality steaks, our experience fell short of expectations this time. I ordered a 6 oz filet well-done, but it was served medium-rare, while my husband’s 8 oz rare steak arrived closer to medium-well. When dining at a steakhouse, accurate preparation is crucial, and unfortunately, this inconsistency dampened our enjoyment of the meal. Flavors were also lacking. Both dishes seemed under-seasoned, missing the boldness you would expect from a premium steakhouse. For the quality and portion sizes, the pricing felt a little steep and not quite justified by the experience. While the service was courteous, the issues with the food overshadowed the positives. At this price point, I’d hope for better attention to detail. Unfortunately, Modern Steak Southport did not hit the mark for us this time.

   As always Modern was wonderful. The service is professional, attentive without being invasive. We went for happy hour and it didn't disappoint. Steaks were divine and the fries were perfect. We always finish any meal at modern with a baked Alaska. It was perfect.

    Today, I had the pleasure of dining with my daughter at Modern Steak. From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed and treated with impeccable attention by the entire team, making us feel truly special. We started with a delightful Tuna Poke as our appetizer, which was simply outstanding. For the main course, we chose the Benchmark Ribeye, perfectly cooked and paired with a delicious risotto. To top it off, the dessert was a wonderful surprise that brought the evening to a perfect close. Every dish was flawless, prepared with such care and precision, which truly highlights the exceptional quality of this kitchen. I would like to especially thank our server, Todd, who was incredibly attentive, and the entire staff who made this evening unforgettable. This place offers such an amazing dining experience. Highly recommend it to everyone!
