I always enjoy my meal at monkey pod and mai tai. It was unfortunate that I waited over 15 minutes after my reservation time to be seated (I even arrived 15 minutes prior to the reserved time). I watched several tables be slowly cleaned off and reset as my reservation time passed.

The night started strong. We were celebrating our twins birthdays and there was a special note on the table. The waitress was nice and gave her recommendations and seemed like she was going to be attentive and on top of it. There was a DJ in the background which seemed like a good idea but the music was so muffled and loud that you couldn’t hear anything anyone at the table was saying. Our appetizers never came to the table and no one checked on us for us to ask about them. Everyone just walked by trying to avoid eye contact. Finally got another waitress to get us some refills since we had been waiting so long. We were surprised when our entrees showed up first. We told the people delivering the food we hadn’t received our appetizers yet but they just wanted to drop off the entrees and our waitress was no where to be found so we told them to tell her to cancel the apps. Finally, she came around to the table to ask how everything was and apologized and said she would cover the apps…(you mean cover the apps that never came?). Her apology was weak and she had no sense of urgency. We weren’t starving and still the truffle mushroom pizza was more like a cheese pizza from Little Caesars with a few mushrooms sprinkled on top. The fries that came out with the burger and the fish and chips were soggy and brown. The meat on the fish tacos was gray inside and it was supposed to be medium. Nothing about the meal was worthy of all the hype this restaurant gets. The manager came over I guess to smooth it out, but it was too late. She offered to comp $100 off the bill. We weren’t there for freebies. Call me a sucker, I paid the full bill without her comp. We just wanted an enjoyable meal for our twins 15th birthday and there wasn’t any effort to make the dining experience a good one. As a server and cocktail waitress, I know how hectic restaurants can be and when grace is due when mistakes happen. I also know when staff is not attentive and food is subpar. I would not recommend.

Last year was fantastic. Came back this year and it definitely has gone downhill. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated after our reservation time, which was a fairly early time, had to get our own straws and an extra napkin after we asked twice. We were never told the specials. The food was really not that great. The ribeye steak didn’t have any seasoning on it and zero flavor. Was supposed to be medium, but was well done. The burger didn’t have any cheese sauce on it. The service was slow and barely civil. This just wasn’t worth it. We actually opted not to get dessert because we didn’t want to be even more disappointed.

The restaurant was busy, food was bought out very slow. Fries were dry and green bean was very salty. The place is cool for gathering, however needs to improve on food quality.

We've visited several times before. Our server was great! I was unsure about picking a drink, but he provided some popular options that were just right! The food is always on point, too. We love this Moku and will definitely return! 😀
