Montecatini is a stable for Walnut Creek as it opened October 17, 1989, the day of the Loma Prieta earthquake in California. Since then, Montecatini Ristorante has become a place for "regulars" to enjoy a true Italian dining experience. We are a loud and bustling environment where many have come to say we're like family. All our dishes are meticulously prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. Our pastas and entrees are served piping hot from our kitchen to your table.

Montecatini has been awarded "Best of East Bay" for Best Italian Restaurant in the East Bay Area by Diablo Magazine for several years. As of January 2022 our chef, Ermes Paulin, has passed ownership down to two of Montecatini's long-time employees, Terrance and Taylor George. They plan to keep Montecatini thriving on its "old school" vibe while enhancing the cocktail and wine program. So come in and experience Montecatini for yourself and see what a true hidden gem we are!

If you plan on eating here you should check the Lesher Center’s event calendar. Your food will likely be delayed if there is a show. It will be excellent, but delayed. The 2 chefs in kitchen get overwhelmed, as most of the patrons are going to the show (across the street) and need to head over on a timeline.

One of our very favorite places to dine. Everything on the menu is amazing. Servers are terrific and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection. Generous portions that can be shared or taken home for round two.

Great food, great service BUT SOOOOO LOUD, I could hear anyone. Also the food took AN HOUR to be prepared. And that was Thursday night, not even a weekend.

The restaurant is very loud. Tables are fairly close together. The coctails were great. I had the scallops - they were breaded with a butter/lemon sauce. They should have just pan seared the scallops as the breading came off and wass unnecssary. My husband had the linguini with clams - not a lot of clams.

My favorite restaurant in Walnut Creek! Fantastic food, incredible service & ambience. There is nothing average on the menu either. The escargot & carpaccio are beyond amazing. And don’t forget to end with either the tiramisu or zabaglione/ with strawberries. Absolutely the best ending to a phenomenal Italian meal!

three out of four meals were either tasteless or had too much sauce of oil..... We were there two hours and the table beside us was there before us and still didn't have their meals?????

Montecatini serves excellent food!! It’s not inexpensive. The staff is very friendly, attentive, service is delightful. The ambiance is lively. That makes it a bit noisy, but join in the fun and enjoy a great evening out!
