   Scallops always great. Service friendly and mindful of time needed to get to show. Wine list a little pricey.

   Hostess not very friendly I expected more as far as food experience, but it was just average.

   Amazing dinner in downtown Monterey. We had reservations on the patio but were lucky to find seats at the bar. Liza took great care of us and we had the special surf and turf (filet and lobster)with a bottle of Chappellet cabernet. One of our fave restaurants when we’re in town.

   Absolutely FABULOUS!!! Bridgette (our server) was awesome. Checked on us at all the right times. Food was over the top delicious. We each had the Montrio Mixed Green and it was beautiful. We shared the Surf & Turf and the plating was superb as was the meal. The desserts were decadent; the flourless chocolate cake was smooth as velvet and the crème brûlée….well let me just say there was none left. I highly recommend going. Kudos to the GM and his outstanding wine recommendation along with the back of the house!!! Love this special spot!!!

   Nice decor. Surprisingly good food. But the service was lousy for this price point. We got to the restaurant when they opened, and we were told they couldn't seat us early (even though we were only 25 minutes early and virtually every table was empty) and that since the bar was full, there was nothing they could do. Truly head scratching. We could have simply had a drink at our table, but instead, we wandered around the neighborhood for 20 minutes (not a great neighborhood) to kill time. Ridiculous. The young woman hostess in the Valentine's Day sweater had ZERO personality or interpersonal skills, and the guy standing behind her supervising just kept saying "I'm sorry". Then the waiter was hyper and overly attentive (he and his co-workers interrupted us at least 6 times during our meal to ask 'how things were going'); it was Valentine's Day - just leave us alone! If we need something we'll ask. Usually when things don't match at a restaurant, it's good service and mediocre food; with Montrio, it's good food and a place in serious need of a new service staff.

   Service by Bill could not have been better. Also a visit from an owner was nice too. Our order was brought out just as we wanted. No surprises.

   I had the scallops. It was a perfect sear. The risotto was also excellent.

    We had the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were fantastic! My husband had the NY strip for dinner, and I do think he wished it was a little more cooked since he ordered it “medium” but it was still a good meal. I had the scallops entree. I absolutely loved it. The risotto paired very well with the scallops. I will definitely be back for that meal again!
