Opened in 1978 and located in the heart of historic Old Town, Alexandria, Murphy's Grand Irish Pub is one of Alexandria's best-loved and most inviting restaurants. Murphy's offers an extensive menu and top-class traditional cuisine in the welcoming ambiance of its cozy settings.

A short 10-15-minute drive from the nation's capital, this landmark establishment is located at the main intersection in Old Town, King & Washington.

    Great location and chill atmosphere. Well priced drinks. Food inexpensive but subpar. Appetizers are like defrosted appetizers from BJs with exception of tuna. French dip, salmon, and tuna entrees were fine. Steaks covered in salty tasteless gravy. Pulled pork incredibly dry. Hard to see how the kitchen could mess up so bad on such easy dishes. Good service and friendly hostess.

    Overall we were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The portions were ample and the flavors quite good. The mashed potatoes were dry, but still ok. Glad we ordered the Irish stew to go with it.

    Wonderful evening outside patio. Great service & delicious food. Crabcakes, shrimp, scallops amazing. Chocolate cake wonderful. We’ll go back

    We were given a table upstairs so it would be quieter. The food was excellent and our server was attentive but not overly so.

    We came in for brunch Sunday. Website says brunch until 3:00 but actually it stops at 2:00, we got there at 1:45. Unfortunately my eggs were over cooked , potato’s were old and cold, pancakes were burnt, black. Biscuit was old and dry. I was very disappointed as we had eaten there before and it was good.

    Always great food, especially their oysters. Noise level is contingent on how many super drunk people are there at any given time. But it’s an Irish bar so caveat emptor.

    Always a great brunch after mass on Sunday! The eggs Benedict is very reliable. Veggie omelet made to order for our dairy free daughter. Belgian waffles that are always a crowd pleaser.
