From the OpenTable editors: Wife-and-husband team Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Wade Ueoka trained in MICHELIN-Starred kitchens from Napa to NYC before returning home to open what Eater calls one of the most essential restaurants in Honolulu. The airy, second-floor space has a big, bustling dining room for Hawaiian comforts like the signature mochi-crusted kampachi and wagyu beef sliders on housemade mochi buns.     My second visit for dinner at MW and thoroughly enjoyed dining there again . A convenient place for fine dining and a nicely varied menu.

    The noise was unbelievable, we couldn’t carry on a conversation across our table. The only reason we would not go back nor recommend this. Emily was a wonderful server. The food was spectacular, each course was delicious!

    It was a very busy night. There was also a large party outside of the restaurant. However, we sat at our table for 17 minutes, with only a glass of water and a menu. My husband ended up walking to the bar to get us some cocktails. Finally the server came, and thanked us for our patience. It seemed chaotic in the restaurant. However, the food was great.

    We received a gift card for MW .. so we ordered the shrimp escargot unfortunately the shrimp was dry and rubbery… also we ordered the opakapaka very dry the service was attentive, but I think we will not go back to this restaurant…,

    We were gifted a dinner and absolutely had a wonderful dinner and experience! Our crab cakes, kanpachi and short ribs were excellent and the chef was so thoughtful to make me a no soy dressing (soy allergy) that was the BEST!! Our server was very nice and considerate as well! Great Kona coffee mud pie dessert to complete our holiday meal. Thanks to all for one of our best dining experiences!

    The food and service was excellent. Menu is small, a few more options would be nice for the entrees. The ambience was a bit sterile, since it’s inside the Velocity car dealership, lighting could be turned down, music didn’t notice any at all. Had more of a cafeteria vibe about it which could be fixed easily with decor and lighting.
