   Very trendy ambience. Sweet potatoes taquitos were a highlight. Port was very good not great. We will go again

   I’m a big fan of Chef Wes, the Angry Egret Cafe was my favorite restaurant in all of L.A. until it unfortunately closed. The menu there was constantly taking risks, so much so it seemed more like an experience rather than just a restaurant. I was very happy to hear that MXO was the next project coming up, so I had high hopes for it. It was, however, just a restaurant. It was not a bad experience by any means, but it was just an ordinary steakhouse. The service was great and the food was made really well, but it wasn’t anything out of the norm. There’s plenty of steakhouses you can go to in L.A. for better value. Everyone in the restaurant was stacked on top of each other making it a little claustrophobic, and the scene there was uppity and inauthentic. If I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous restaurant from Chef Wes, I’d probably be more lenient in my review, but I came to this restaurant with my hopes set high. On the plus side, you might see someone famous there, if that’s what you’re looking for.

   We came to MXO to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and had a wonderful time! The restaurant is gorgeous inside and out, starting with a glass walk above cactuses to enter the restaurant. As you come in, you are treated to a beautiful modern interior with amazing chandeliers. The food and the service was great, everything we tried was really good. Carne asada was amazing! Highly recommend!

   Waited 20 minutes past our reservation time with no communication from the staff… not the SBE norm

   From the moment we got there our experience was over and above excellent. Our server Natalia was awesome! Then came the food - beyond delicious!

   Service was great. Drinks were pretty good. The atmosphere was nice. The food was extremely disappointing. We won’t be coming back.

   Absolutely Exceptional! As someone who goes out to eat almost every night, my expectations are pretty moderate, this restaurant blew me away! It is a perfect 10 from start to finish! The Grilled Cabbage Caesar Salad is probably one of the best tasting food items I’ve ever had! Their house made sour cream and aguachiles, Oh My God! Beyond delicious! The service is top notch, so on top of it! Will absolutely be back! My mouth is already dreaming of our next trip! Bravo!

    Although the food is generally very good, the server was robotic, inflexible, and seemed more concerned about turning over the table rather than providing unique or personable service.
