   We are regulars at NBR. Our usual waiter, Nino, was on holiday but his replacement was really quite good!

   Not worth it - better service and Italian food in north beach. I was very excited to try this restaurant. However, that all changed from the second that we walked in. We gave our name to the host stand and they said they were getting the table ready for us. We waited 15 minutes and went back up to the host stand to ask if they could check on the reservation. They said that they had nothing available in the dining room but plenty in the wine cellar. I said well we booked our reservation for the wine cellar please get us seated. Left a bad taste in our mouths. We finally got our table, and it took some time for water to be poured and drink orders to be filled. There also is no music downstairs in the wine cellar so it was a bunch of quiet conversations with the tables of people who were there. Our waiter was fun and brought good energy, but did not check up on the table much and took a while in between courses to ask if we’d like to order anything else. We finally got our food and it was good. Nothing exceptional, but yummy. The drinks were very excellent. When it was time to get the check, we gave the waiter our card and it took 30 minutes for him to run it and bring it back to us. At that point, we were the only people left in the wine cellar just waiting for our check. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be coming back here and don’t think I will recommend any others to.

   We have a long history of enjoying this restaurant, and we’ve been eager for the reopening. This is our second experience. In both visits we waited 15 minutes or more for our cocktails. The food was not as good as the original restaurant, many times deviating from what was promised on the menu. Staff pleasant but don’t listen. Entrees over-cooked. Pasta not properly prepared. We’ll try again hoping the ownership will read this.

   Food was excellent but the service was very slow. The owner explained one bartender didn’t show up and a server went home sick.

   The Honorary pasta cannot be beat—do not miss this as part of your order! Professional staff and nice buzz in the restaurant , even on a Sunday night. Will be back!

   The place is beautiful and the servers friendly and helpful. They were a little shorthanded during our Sunday evening visit, but everything came as ordered and the food (Osso Bucco, Pasta and large salads) was very good, thought short of outstanding. The drinks were fun and the wine list fine. It was good to see the place nearly full as the night wore on, and everyone looked happy to be there at a historic San Francisco place back in business. A joyous San Francisco place. I would recommend it and will definitely go again.

   A contemporary version of a San Francisco institution. Good service and a menu reminescent of the North Beach. It was a very pleasant evening.

   This was our first time back to North Beach Restaurant since its reopening with new ownership. It started off perfectly (10) our waiter, Nino is truly a San Francisco gem. We had an early reservation and were able to have his full attention. Drinks and first courses were perfect. We noticed the place filling up and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Our entrees, unfortunatly was late in arriving and the food had obviously been sitting somewhere for awhile. While 2 of the dinners were hot one was only warm. As a result of the delay my branzino was dry. Added to the disappointment was the bed of tomatoes, olives and capers was wonderful and I knew the fish would have been if served when it was prepared. Definitely try again it again because so much of dinner was fun and delicious.

    Service was okay. We were sat promptly. Our server came and asked if we would like still or sparkling water. The next time we saw him he wanted to know if we had decided on entrees. I said we’d like to order drinks first, he seemed surprised we weren’t ready to order. Red flag. We ordered drinks, then ordered apps. The rest of the night seemed fine but the quality of service needs some old school refinement. No seafood pasta on the menu, a real disappointment. Overall, okay, not dying to go back and I live close by.
