Northern Union is one of our favorite places to dine. We live in the Boston area and have averaged about two visits per year in the last 5 years. We never miss an opportunity to catch their wonderful seasonal menu and incredible wine list. HIGHLY recommend. This semi-hidden gem wildly exceeds the other similar restaurants in the area.

Great ambience and attentive service . Menu has a good diversity in selection. We’ll be making this a regular spot and heartily encourage anyone wanting a very pleasant experience, to try out Northern Union. The ambience is a clean and contemporary aesthetic and itself is worth a visit. Layer that with tasteful food and an unpretentious wine list for a special time.

We have owned a cottage in the Ogunquit area for almost 2 years and I am embarrassed to say that this past weekend was the first time we had dinner at Northern Union. Now that we have tried them, they will be on our "must go to" list. First of all, the ambiance is super cool... elegant and yet relaxed at the same time. Lots of reclaimed wood mixed with formal banquette style seats and benches. We were a party of four and were lucky enough to get a private little dining room that actually felt like we were inside of somebody's home. The seating areas, one that we saw which was a giant stump of of a tree root and two chairs are as unique as the food. The menu is broken down into starters or snacks small plates and big plates which are the main courses. We had an 8 p.m. reservation and dined slowly over a two and a half hours...feeling no pressure to give up our table. All of the food is unique and inspired and of course artistically presented. I don't think you could go wrong with a menu item. For an appetizer, we did a charcuterie board with cheeses and prosciutto as well as some roasted carrots and an olive assortment. Four main courses, we tried a pork loin, the duck, and the salmon. The only thing that I would might note is that if you are someone who likes huge portions, then this restaurant would not be for you. The main course selections are on the smaller side, however the food is so delightful that you end up being fully satisfied. We will definitely be back again to or enjoy a special evening at Northern Union.

Very nice, romantic restaurant. Nice wine selection. Excellent food, both tapas and main courses. Their portions are small though.

the entree portions were skimpy especially for the men in our group. I could have used a few more vegetables with my salmon portion.

Tried the Northern Union for the first time. The waitress was very knowledgeable about how the food was prepared and she was very attentive. All of the food that we tried was very flavorful. Our big issue was the following. Like many restaurants, table of 2 are treated to a small table off to the side somewhere instead of being part of the mainstream restaurant. To add to this disrespect the chairs at these small tables were basically nothing more than wooden ice cream parlor chairs that were incredibly uncomfortable. You would think that the restaurant would do everything that they could to provide comfort so that the patrons would stay longer and order dessert and coffee. We left as quick as we could and probably won't be back. Too bad since we come to Ogunquit each year and look for new good places to eat.

Food was very good as was the wine list. Service was mixed (very good at the beginning and lagged after that). Staff was very high on the chef and their food, but almost in an arrogant way.
