    Truly excellent food, high quality ingredients done with care and craft! Husband and I enjoyed every dish from the warm focaccia bread and olive oil, to the grilled morels and octopus apps, to the bucatini and squid ink pastas … the dinners were truly exquisite (scallops and lamb shank) dessert lemon olive oil cake was marvelous! Really enjoyable experience and great service !

    Fantastic, as always! For this, our 6th or 7th visit to this great restaurant, we did the LUV Wines/Flannery Beef tasting menu. For a place that focuses on seafood (hence the "Reel" in the name of the place) Chef and his crew did an amazing job with this unusual beef, a product that comes from Holstein cows, which are usually bred as dairy cows. Despite the claim that some find the flavor of this beef a bit "funky," we found it incredibly tender and flavorful. Chef and crew used it in 6 dishes, and all were fantastic. The wine pairings were well-explained and -matched, such that we ordered 5 bottles of 3 different vintages. We are never surprised at how terrific this place is - our favorite go-to place in a getting-better-every-week dining scene that is Detroit!

    Wonderful!!! They were able to move our reservation time for 8 people up a half hour last minute to accommodate us. The service was perfectly paced. Ashley communicated so well and explained the menu efficiently and effectively. She was present when needed and timely. We were a larger group engaged in conversation and she was able to get our ear with out being intrusive and was patient with us. The food was extraordinary. We ordered every appetizer and nearly every entree, pasta and dessert. They were all delicious. The crab stuffed morels were perfection. The grilled octopus was the best I have ever had. I could talk about all of them. It was a lovely experience. Great job!!!

    The food, wine, and service were all outstanding. I have previously been to the downstairs speakeasy bar Upright also, which I highly recommend.

    We ate at Oak & Reel following a matinee at the Fisher Theatre. The food, service, and ambiance were excellent. Recommend.

    Not as good as I remembered. Prices high. Serving size small. Having to order our entire meal at the same time as apps was a turn off. We will not return.
