Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

I am blown away by the food, ambiance, and the service I received! It was my birthday and they not only accommodated a large party, they made sure to work with us when ordering! I also got a round of mini maitai slushies and a giant rice krispie. We ordered the whole menu (party of 7) and were full and satisfied with everything. This is definitely a new favorite of mine!

The curry fries blew my mind, and I was very excited to find the same pickled serrano peppers again on the wonton mee, as they made every bite they touched delightful. We'll definitely be back, and can't wait to try even more items!

The crew at Oma’s delivered on a super friendly, welcoming and gracious service. The menu was like a tour through parts of Asia with a dash of innovation! Blown away and will be back!

Worth the visit. Flavours great, service ideal, atmosphere cool and lively without being cacophonous. Would return and would recommend. 2% surcharge should be revisited.

The atmosphere at Oma's is fabulously eclectic and the staff is always wonderful and friendly. The food though..... INCREDIBLE! You will never taste anything quite like it and it's something dreams are made of! The egg yolk fries, corn fritters, and roti are must-haves! We bring friends there from out of town, and they talk about it for months after. You know you've found an outstanding place when people can't get it out of their heads!

We had a terrific time! It was my partner's birthday and they served us special drinks and a special salad (since I requested no special dessert). The food was outstanding as always!

Oma's Hideaway is gorgeous. The service is top notch, and the atmosphere is joyous. I highly recommend the char siu platter, salted egg yolk fries, and grilled kabocha. The star that shined the brightest was the HK style French toast. It was the perfect balance of sweet and salty.
