We really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately we felt the crazy prices were too much of a turn off. The food is about the same level as any decent take out place, but at avra prices. The valet(with validation!) was $25. Which I think is unacceptable. It’s in the Loews hotel, which instead of having that rich hotel feel, it feels like they skimped on lighting and it’s just not great ambiance. Total bummer, we’ll never go back.

Food was outstanding! So good! The only thing is the ambience…it’s in the hotel lobby and is open. Needs something like tons of plants or a canopy to create more coziness and ambience. Definitely going back.

While Michael Mina has lent his name to the restaurant in the newly remodeled Regency Hotel, Santa Monica, it’s the name and location that drew me in. While they have only been open a few weeks when our party visited, they still have some work to do. The indoor dining area while nice enough feels like a hotel, so we moved outside to a lovely table on the patio overlooking the ocean and Santa Monica Pier. Nicely decorated with heaters that are placed in the ceiling and go unnoticed. The Waiter over explained the menu, we are adults and can read, and they ask them to show us a box of all the spices they use in preparation of the food. Very hookey. Food was creative and priced for an up scale hotel. Courses are to be shared. Not huge but main courses are large enough to share. There is a special desert to share, a baklava, that is quite the production to serve, we just watched and ordered something else that was not that inspiring. All in all, it will be a treat for hotel guests but as a local from the area there are too many other choices that are better.
