From the OpenTable editors: This MICHELIN-Starred restaurant from legendary, James Beard Award-winning chef and owner Nancy Silverton is the obvious choice for special occasions. The refined lineup of Italian food like grilled octopus, crispy duck confit, and housemade pasta—plus an impressive Old World wine list to match—makes for an outstanding meal, but touches like the mozzarella bar where Silverton herself may plate your food keep things approachable.

Outstanding food, ambiance, and service. We enjoyed everything and some items were simply perfect. The Buffalo Mozzarella with Garlic bread and anchovies were mind blowing. Grilled octopus was sensational with the subtle potato salad underneath. Oxtail Ragu was great, could’ve been a bit saltier. Braised Veal Cheek was great and well made with the mashed potatoes, yet the flavor of the beef got buried a bit by the potato. We got a well done hanger steak, it was a bit dry, and we’ll for sure get it medium next time. Crispy Duck was easily one of my favorites as the sweet sauce and the lemon combination it was served with definitely gave it an adventurous taste that makes you full in the best way possible. The desserts were simply magnificent, starting with the Torta Della Nonna, Pistachio Gelato, and our top favorite item, Apple Borsellino. Overall, an amazing experience for a great price in Los Angeles. 9.5/10

Perhaps it was because we brought our kids, but the service was almost non existent. When we arrived, it was nearly empty and it still took quite a while to get our drinks. There was no explanation of the menus and the server didn’t know the dish compositions. The best thing we ordered was the mozzarella starter, everything else was average. I looked forward to the trumpet mushroom ravioli but the kitchen left grit in the mushrooms which felt like sand while eating. I had the cioppino and it was prepared with old scallops which had to be sent back. While it was removed from our bill, the waiter didn’t even apologize. Quite a disappointing experience.

We have been here many times since the beginning when it launched with Mario Batali. Arrived on time for our reservation, we were seated 40 minutes later. We checked in every 15 minutes and the host initially said 5-10 mins - turned into 40 minutes. This typically happens when a 615 reservation arrives late because no one wants to actually eat at 6:15 but it was the only reservation they could get. So they show up at 6:45 and the restaurant does not limit their dining time by telling them “We need this table at 8:15.” We were finally seated and our server Shalamar was amazing. well informed and friendly. Appetizers arrived were delicious .They cleared away our appetizer plates the table sat empty for 30 minutes. we asked what happened to our premi , our server disappeared and a senior person took over and disappeared to the kitchen, and then explained : Your food just went in the pan. I guess they forgot to put in our order? Because tables who arrived after us had seamless delivery of their courses. Primi arrived 45 mins after appetizers were cleared. 2 of our party were fed up. By this time we had been there over 2 hours and primi were just delivered . 4 of us no longer wanted secondi so we cancelled them immediately when primi arrived. Asked for our bill and were shocked that no consideration had been made for the unacceptable delays. I always say, the restaurant knows how many tables and seats they have, they know how many reserved patrons there will be and they should have enough staff, especially in the kitchen to serve them all. And they should have systems to make sure patrons are seated on time - or within 15 minutes. There were no surprises here we had a reservation. But they could not see until 40 minutes later and we ordered three courses of food and there was a 40 minute pause between appetizer and primi. The food was delicious, the vibe was not the same as it used to be. Will not come back if this is the way the restaurant runs now

Had a 8pm reservation. Got there at 7:50. Waited until 8:35 to get seated. After asking, got complimentary glasses of ok wine. No room at the bar area, so standing for 45 minutes!!!! Not pleasant.

Consistently, one of the very best restaurants we lobe to visit annual when visiting family for the holidays. If I lived locally I would visit far more often. Our waitress last evening was delightful. Melissa, the sommelier, nailed it with both of her suggestions. And the food itself was sheer perfection. This restaurant is not to be missed.
