   We’ve been here many times over the last twenty five years, but it’s been 3 years+ since our last visit. We lived in Capitola and now in Live Oak, so we are locals. Last Friday we sat at a table in the dining area. We were the only people in that section at first. The server was there quickly, and he got our drink orders. Then our food order. He was friendly enough. After that, service was extremely minimal and slow. We had a three course dinner from their Santa Cruz Restaurant Week menu. Slow to bring each course with at least ten minutes between finishing each courses. Full time there from ordering our drinks to serving us desert was about 90 minutes. Two or three visits by our server during our meal. During that time, only one other table with party of three was seated, so couldn’t understand the delay. The food was decent enough. Drinks, although expensive were also OK, although it’s hard to mess up wine and Jack and Coke. No longer impressed by the Grill. Suggest having a happy hour/burger night as in the past, or perhaps a locals menu. As it is, we won’t be back.

   The food was bland and mediocre. We expected better. The halibut was cooked in a water downed tomato sauce with a dash of what tasted like ketchup and was sweet. I would stay away from this dish. The steamed spinach was dry and crispy with no flavor. The mashed potatoes didn't get touched because I decided I no longer could eat it. It wasn't even hot enough either. It was a big disappoint for us.

   Celebrated my wife’s birthday. The staff took great care of us and the food was delicious. Great memories.

   The views are everything here. Service is outstanding with a friendly efficient staff. Food is better than average but it's really the ambiance that makes this a go-to place.

    Paradise Beach Grille is a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat along the Esplanade at Capitola Beach. There are a couple areas of outdoor or semi-outdoor seating which offer terrific views of the pier, the beach, the colored buildings and the sea birds. The food is very good, and the service is excellent. We'll be back!
