We have attended many holiday buffets at Park Hyatt Aviara. We were happy that we were permitted to sit outside in a pretty, quiet patio area. The buffet room felt cavernous to us and not a warm, welcoming space. The food choices were very good, although we wished the hot dishes were hotter! There was a diverse selection of desserts which looked very elegant but did not taste great: many tasted the same. We missed the more traditional Xmas cookies, gingerbreads and homemade pies! Still a nice opportunity to dress up and celebrate, thanks for having us!

We have attended the TeddyBear tea for the last eight years. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the tea experience is a treat for children. The Tea Princess greets all the children by visiting each table, taking pictures, and reading a book to the group. The only two disappointments were that the fantastic French hot chocolate we look forward to each year tasted watery, similar to a powdered packet at the grocery store and that some of the children were not well-behaved. The parents let them run around the tables and jump on furniture; however, that has nothing to do with the staff. We will continue to go each year since it has become a tradition we enjoy.

Spectacular setting. High tea food items were very good but plates had been prepared ahead of time so some were not moist or crispy. The Queen this year really spent a lot of time with the children. She was terrific for the role of young Queen.

Thanksgiving buffet for $140 was a big disappointment. Turkey was dry and gravy cold. No sweet potatoes and desserts were a big disappointment.

Easter brunch event 2024. Reservation later in the day. Some tables with hot dishes offered cold samplings. Notified staff though and they came out to replace right away. Average buffet. Nothing really blew us away as a buffet for 140 a hit. Felt like a budgeted meal. Staff was very kind, however.

For the cost per person (over $100), the value was not there. Big conference room, running around kids, no ambiance. However, the workers were most helpful and appreciate them working over the day.

We had Easter brunch at the Hyatt. On the plus side, the presentation of the buffet was stunningly, beautiful, and they have one of the greatest pastry chefs around. However, this crazy expensive meal was nowhere near worth it cost. The eggs Benedict sat on a plate on the serving line with no heat, and even after a fresh batch came out, they were served between lukewarm and cold. The prime rib from the carving station was sinewy and also cold. There was an elaborate cheese station, but the only bread or cracker was a raisin toast, which was stale. And perhaps the most egregious offense, aside from cold flavorless food was the fact that service was abysmal. we constantly had to wave people down to ask for coffee or drinks. They didn’t clear our plates, even when we stepped up to get more food, so we moved them off to the side, and waved someone down. When the staff came, they took the dirty dishes, but never brought any clean silver. So we just kept using the same dirty Silver for each course. Which is fine if you’re at a picnic. But it’s not fine when you want to charge someone a couple hundred dollars a plate. And they were not very many people there, so there’s no excuse for the bad service, especially when they added a 22% tip, amounting to $65 for the two of us. This terrible meal cost us nearly $400, and we didn’t enjoy it.

Arrived to be told they do not take reservations while had clearly made one using open table. I showed them my reservation and they were puzzled. They squeezed us in, but not before clearly letting us know they were on a wait. We ordered off the breakfast menu instead of the buffet. We sat for 40 minutes waiting for food and the server kept saying it’s coming only to come back a final time to tell us that a manager told him to cancel our order as we had decided to get the buffet (we were not eating so I have no idea why he would cancel our order and nobody had spoken to us the entire time). It was pretty outrageous all around. We ended up getting the buffet in desperation as I wasn’t willing to wait any longer.I think we were secretly shafted because of the OpenTable reservation. Our meal was comped (we had a breakfast credit anyway so it wasn’t a bonus for us). A manager really should have come over to our table at some point. Total fiasco breakfast.
