Such a great atmosphere location. Service is extremely quick and friendly. The food hits the spot, every single time. Quite possibly the best Guinness pour in the city. Gotta love it.

Our reservation wasn't honored and we placed at a table that we were told we had to vacate within 90 minutes. Made the reservation to celebrate a friend's birthday. Disappointing.

I have Sunday Roast dinners in uk often. Their Yorkshire puddings are a meal in themselves. I giggled with the disappointment of the size of your Yorkshire’s. otherwise it was fine.

Sign inside the door said seat yourself, but because we had reserved with Open Table we went to the bar to inquire about our reservation....a young lady said she would take a look around and be back for us. She seated us in a dark back corner that was crowded with tables and chairs, we had to move furniture around to be able to sit! We should have seated ourselves as there were several tables we passed by that were much nicer than this one. The ladies beside us said they had been there for 3 hours already and were waiting for their bill. The service was slow, when the meals came they were small & not very well presented....the Sherpherds Pie was served right in the oblong pan it was cooked in, which was fine, but the plate it was put on was not much bigger than it so seemed very small; it was more mashed potatoes than anything else. The Chicken Pot Pie came on a large plate but looked lonely, just the pot pie in a footed bowl with a blob of mashed potatoes a few inches away on the plate, then a couple of slices of carrots on top of the mashed. Both dishes had a similar flavour...the Shepherds Pie did have a large piece of a bay leaf in it, that may have been the common flavour. By the time the second glass of wine came around we were done our meal and ready to go, so was not an enjoyable drink! Got very busy just after we arrived, very noisy and crowded!

Food Is generally okay but pricey and small portions. My friend ordered steamed mussels for $18 and only received four. Read the wine list carefully; wine can be $18 a glass. Good atmosphere and well decorated. Table server was great; accommodating and fast, friendly service

We had a very enjoyable evening, with delicious food in a cosy booth. The only complaint we have is that there was a draught coming from the fireplace and apparently the fire cannot be lit. Suggest covering it up as it was a bit cool for people on the end seats.

Penny Farthing is a classic British pub located in the heart of Oak Bay. The food is generally good and the service is remarkable given how busy the restaurant is. Make reservations if you want to get in on a weekend. The restaurant fills up quickly even at an early hour.

Went for a pint with a couple friends Nov 1st and the interior was wonderful. Like a traditional English pub, complete with personal touches and all. The server, despite being the only one there that afternoon/evening, was talkative, kind, and accommodating. The atmosphere was great, beer was fantastic, they also had an excellent selection of scotch I wanted to get into but my friends called it in for the night before i had s chance to. Definitely a place I want to revisit.
