   We love nice restaurants and dine out often, so we were really excited about trying Perch. The restaurant is beautiful, well decorated, and quiet. It looks out onto the Gulf of America from the second floor. After we were seated, we were greeted by our server who was VERY soft-spoken and nice, but we were having a pretty difficult time hearing her.. While looking at the menu we were informed that we had arrived on the first day of the “new menu”. Hind-sight is 20/20, but that’s when we should’ve had our appetizer and went to find dinner elsewhere. My wife ordered a shrimp and gnocchi dish that had okra in it that was so slimy it was inedible and we had to send it back (which we almost NEVER do). I ordered a Delmonico ribeye which came out severely undercooked (I asked for rare +, which is usually a hair under medium rare, but my steak was 100% raw. It had been tossed on the grill long enough to turn the outside gray. Our kids also split a medium rare Delmonico and it was cooked nicely. The steaks were served with small Truffled Duchess potatoes which were pretty bland. I also had some scallops with my steak. They were nicely cooked and delicious. The manager stopped by to ask our opinion since they had a new menu that night. We gave honest feedback which she seemed to appreciate (we were not upset at all, just didn’t care for our dinner). All in all not a great experience. There are many other really great restaurants in the area. I just don’t think Perch is our spot.

   Food was overpriced & terrible. Service was terrible. They just “guess” on food allergies - no kitchen confirmation. Another guest & I are both sick today.

   Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our kitchen is equipped to accommodate most allergies and we certainly take them very seriously. I'm not sure of your specific allergy, but I can ensure you that we take every precaution in preparing meals for guests with allergies. I haven't taken this lightly either, we will work more with our staff on identifying allergies and we are working on creating a menu that offers items that cater more to guests that have allergic reactions.    We’ve dined here in the past, so my wife and I were careful not to to over order. The portions are huge. We started with Cream of Vidalia Onion soup. Absolutely wonderful. Reminded me of the Cream of Garlic soup at Bayona in the French Quarter. But this soup was better. After the hot soup, we had a dozen small farmed oysters. Much like Murder Point or French Hermit oysters farmed in Biloxi. For our entree, we split their version of a charcuterie: A giant Pretzel with all sorts of cheeses, meats, and vegetables. Now this is just a little too much for two. We shouldn’t have ordered a side of broiled Brussel Sprouts with truffles and drizzles of honey. Huge portion. A couple of bites and they are now in the fridge for tomorrow. We brought a fine Napa Cabernet with us. Corkage available $25. Prices were very reasonable, I’m just not accustomed to paying $35 for a dozen oysters. I guess that’s the going rate these days. Highly recommended when you are in the Gulf Shores area!

   Even with reservations I was seated at the bar instead of a table. With the exception of taking my order, I was shown no service. Had to hunt someone down for silverware and water refill. Food was delicious but service terrible. Servers basically ignore single older women in restaurants. We have money and tip well for good service.
