In 2024, the original location of Petit Trois, on Highland Ave in Hollywood, celebrates 10 years as a beloved, can't miss part of LA's dining scene. Chef/Owner Ludo Lefebvre puts his spin on classic French flavors including the cult-favorite Big Mec burger, swimming in rich Bordelaise sauce, perfectly roasted Heritage chicken with compressed potatoes fried in clarified butter, a French Dip sandwich served with a version of the restaurant's onion soup for dipping, and lots more. Start with the restaurant's housemade baguette served with the creamiest French butter and pair it all with wine from the restaurant's thoughtfully curated list, which includes 16 by the glass options. With a design inspired by classic Parisian bistros, Petit Trois transports guests in its 2 dining areas as well as an outdoor patio. The dining room is also available for private events.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Ludo Lefebvre

From the OpenTable editors: Acclaimed chef Ludo Lefebvre is still turning out some of the best French food in the city at his award-winning postage stamp-sized bistro in Hollywood open since 2014. Sit shoulder-to-shoulder at the cozy marble bar to sample Lefebvre’s simple but masterfully prepared dishes, like steak tartare, escargots drowned in butter, and a perfectly prepared omelet that puts most others to shame.

The food at Petit Trois is the best taste of Paris in LA. The service does, unfortunately, leave something to be desired.

What a mess. When I arrived and stated that I had a reservation for two (which was made a week in advance) all seemed fine. When I stated that it was our 32nd anniversary things seemed to change. My partner and I were told we would be seated at the bar (next to the open door and draft) - as you can imagine, NOT what you would want or accept for celebrating an anniversary. The hostess asked if we had "requested a table". The choices available upon making the reservation were "inside" or "outside". How absolutely PATHETIC that we were asked if we REQUESTED a table (especially when I made the reservation and noted it was an anniversary) - what next, do I need to request a fork and a knife? When one makes a RESERVATION at a restaurant the assumption that is for a TABLE, not the ridiculous Petit Trois assumption that is an honor to sit on a bar stool. It felt as if once we were noted as two men celebrating an anniversary, we became exempt from any consideration for a table as we were told by the hostess, "I don't see you requesting a table, and we have several large parties here tonight". Looking around, the "large parties" seemed to be dirty sneaker - hoodie wearing failed influencers/has-beens/never-was'es. Happy to have dodged a bullet by leaving and enjoying a far superior meal in West Hollywood where the sort of MAGA experience we received at Petit Trois did not exist. Perhaps the Yum Yum Donut shop next door may need to expand soon, and there will be no need for this "restaurant" serving somewhat adequate French grub to exist. Bye Felicia, spreading the word TODAY.

Too cold, should provide insulation for the outdoor seating since essentially that’s all there is. I would expect a little bit more for the quality of food and service that you’re eating the ambience should match.

We’ve eaten here many times over the years. The food, as it was today, was delicious! We had the special cassoulet, and the traditional escargot and leeks fondant. All was great, but oh, we’re became increasingly cold to the point where our hands were icy by the end of the meal. It was the first day with rain after the horrifying fires. We highly recommend Petit Trois! Just bring a jacket if you’re eating there in the winter.

We ordered The French onion soup 10/10, Steaks and Frites 10/10, Baguette 10/10, and chocolate soufflé 11/10. Overall this restaurant was amazing and would come again but we did not appreciate The fat old man host who was incredibly rude, we also saw the sue chef weighing green beans and if it was over a certain weight he would take one out with his dirty hands

It's the worst croque monsieur I have ever tried; it's not even close to authentic. My friend had a crab cake, and it was too salty. Bad experience overall

Best French onion soup on the west coast - entire menu is amazing French bistro food so authentic you could be in Lyon. And now with the expanded seating, it’s an absolute pleasure for any size group.
