   A very pleasant place with a beautiful interior. The downstairs area features a private dining room designed in the same warm, elegant tones as the main space—sophisticated yet understated luxury. The extensive kids’ menu is also a nice touch. It seemed like the perfect spot, and I was looking forward to my order. But I haven’t had such mixed feelings about a restaurant in a long time. The experience turned out to be quite contradictory, so let’s go through it step by step—from the good to the… not so good. If you ever find yourself craving lasagna— “Lasagne al Wagyu e Tartufo” (wagyu beef, truffle, béchamel, tomato, basil) — then don’t hesitate to visit Piccolino. Served piping hot, with a crispy top layer, sizzling in the dish, and boasting a perfect balance of filling and pasta sheets, this lasagna is a delight. You’ll enjoy it and leave satisfied. But if you decide to order a seafood pasta— “Tagliatelle al Salmone” (Argyll smoked salmon, asparagus, lemon & herb mascarpone) — you might start having questions. Why so little sauce? The pasta wasn’t bad, but it was on the dry side. And if you come with kids and order a pizza from the children’s menu, you’ll likely be disappointed—maybe even shocked. Such a strong start, only to end like this. The pizza was undercooked, which I pointed out to the waiter. The issue was immediately escalated to the manager, and they removed it from the bill. Customer service? Present. That’s a plus. However, one great lasagna is not enough for me to book a table here again for any occasion.

   I used to be a big fan, but don't anticipate eating there anymore. The menu has worsened, the wait staff were less than helpful last evening and none of us were thrilled by our food. I was alarmed that the head waiter took 3minutes to notice me upon arrival, despite the restaurant being far from full. None of my party were offered to have their coats taken. We had to almost shout to get a drinks order in and our waiter was bordering on pushy when taking our orders. My chicken was advertised as having truffles, but none were evident and the gnocci were strangley hollow in the middle & strangely chewy. My colleagues salmon linguine was "meh" at best.

    Service was fantastic and the staff were great. The quality of the Sunday roast was not good. The trimmings and vegetables were great. But the quality of the beef and lamb was not good. It was extremely chewy and gristly. Such a shame, as it could have been much better. The vegetables and sides is what saved the experience.
