   This is a restaurant that charges Surrey prices but delivers the ambience of a late night “Magaluf departures lounge.” We booked for our 18th wedding anniversary, a detail the staff treated with the same enthusiasm as a pothole in the car park. We were shunted to the end of a bench next to a family, while empty, more intimate tables seemed more appropriate for such an occassion. The service was so indifferent it bordered on parody; not a single check-in (until I ordered an additional serving of wine halfway through our meal), zero sense of occasion and a general air of 'couldn’t-care-less'. As for the clientele, think less “discreet Surrey setting” and more “cheap Magaluf bar”-tracksuits, neck tattoos and sunglasses indoors, all at full volume, while management looked on. The tiramisu was a beige slab of polystyrene, entirely innocent of coffee or booze, an insult to Italian desserts everywhere. Yet, in a rare moment of redemption, the kitchen can cook: the truffle and wagyu lasagne was rich and decadent, and the crab pasta genuinely fresh and lively. There’s skill here, buried deep beneath the trashy experience. Still, good pasta can’t rescue a meal when the rest is this shambolic. If you want to mark a special occasion, go elsewhere. Piccolino is a masterclass in missed opportunity: a Surrey address, prestige prices, and the experience of a Zizzi on a bad day. If you’re celebrating something special, do yourself a favour, go anywhere else.

   It was more than just great Italian food, it’s the exceptional staff that truly sets it apart. From the warm welcome at the door to the attentive service throughout the meal, every team member made us feel genuinely cared for.

   The meal was great, but we were seated in the sun inside and warmed up very quickly, but managed to get seated at a different table, also quite noisy at times and people that were seated after us got served first, so room for improvement.

    Sent back prawns as they were not cooked, fried zucchini were bits of batter. Service good, we were a party of 8 with a pre-booking but had to request a different table when they tried to seat us next to the toilets .. always a mystery why restaurants think that’s a good idea .. but they moved us to a better table. Probably won’t go again on a Saturday night
