Chef Mathew Peters, the first American to win the prestigious Bocuse d'Or in 2017, is bringing his culinary expertise to the heart of Austin with the opening of Prelude, an elevated cocktail bar and canapé lounge set in a historic home in West Austin. The space has a beautiful back lawn lounge with views of downtown Austin and private rooms throughout the house that can accommodate groups of 6-18 with private events options of groups up to 120 guests.

Prelude will offer a unique Austin experience, combining innovative cocktail creations with elevated small bites. The menu will feature a curated selection of small plates, designed to complement the bar programs signature cocktails and highlight Chef Peters' culinary artistry. Please note that our kitchen closes each evening at 10 pm.

Join Prélude during Happy Hour Tuesday-Thursday from 4-6 pm for $2 oysters and drink specials.

Incredible service, cocktails, and the delicious food from Matt and his team... can't with to see what is in store with Maven! Prelude is a must try! I'm certain they will gain attention from Michelin in the near future!

3rd time here. Always great to grab a drink and a bite. Outdoor section is nicely winterized. Only lament was that the Masa Gougeres were a bit overdone (could tell from the color alone and then taste) + they weren’t discreetly and carefully glued down to that Donnie Darko plate like the other times. Key lime on those still the best part. Slight drop in standards on that one - hopefully one off. But generally great vibes still. 10/10 recommend.

Love, love, love!!! So cozy and amazing! Drinks are creative and delicious and so are the appetizers. Entire staff is happy to be there!

Absolutely loved trying Prèlude for the first time! From our initial arrival and interaction with the sweet hostess, to our conversations with the bartenders/mixologists who patiently answered all our questions, to the stunning interior design and ambiance… this was a stand-out high end cocktail experience and we look forward to returning!

Prelude has a very hip and cool vibe. The inside is so dark you will need your phone’s flashlight to read the menu. The appetizers are TINY. You don’t get much for your money. Our waiter was great.

Very chic! The atmosphere is sophisticated, beautiful and edgy. Drinks were tasty and novel but serving size is fairly small, not boozy enough and pricey. Clientele is respectable and seemed much younger (ages 25 to 40) than expected. Bar seating is limited so not an ideal place to strike up novel conversations with strangers. Tho, that would be a fun concept to have a singles area to sit so as to meet people who appreciate exquisite aesthetics and attention to detail. Overall, I loved having a cocktail here!
