Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and grew up in Boston, MA. Marybeth, a Sioux Falls native, ventured to the east coast as a nanny and then nursing school in Somerville, MA. The two met, fell in love, and became engaged on Martha’s Vineyard island. Moving back to Sioux Falls in 1999 and working at several area restaurants, they opened R Wine Bar in 2018. As owners of R Wine Bar, Riccardo and Marybeth are passionate about one thing: people. They believe that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. With a curated wine list, local craft beer on tap, and beautifully executed menu, Riccardo and Marybeth are thrilled to bring R Wine Bar & Kitchen to the East Bank of Downtown Sioux Falls along with their General Manager, Jane Allen, Assistant Manager Bailey Bernal, Sous Chef Caleb Carr, Sous Chef Esteban Gonzalez, and Culinary Director Adam Schumacher.

    Every meal I’ve eaten here has been amazing! I tried the seafood risotto special last night and it was probably one of the best seafood dinners I’ve ever had in Sioux Falls. The staff is always attentive even when it’s busy. I’ll definitely be back!

    My husband has hearing issues - so requested a distance from the entertainment. We were seated on the other side of the room, perfect for the jazz band playing which we both enjoyed very much as well as the wine & lunch. Were not rushed out after our lunch, stayed to enjoy the music a little longer, appreciated our waitress letting us take our time! Enjoyed visiting with Ricardo on our way out!

    R Wine Bar is always a solid choice. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and delicious food! We also went to Brix wine bar, which is affiliated with R wine bar and had a great experience there too!

    We waited 35 minutes after being seated before our waitress noticed us. I asked 3 different people for water on the third try we finally got some. We have eaten here multiple times, we love the food and atmosphere, but service was Very lacking this visit.

    Excellent date night. Very nice and warm space. Menu authentic Italian and superb service. Had the seafood risotto special. Lobster and shrimp top quality. Date had Gorgonzola tenderloin. Also excellent. Live music too.
