Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu.     We had a wonderful lunch of lentil soup and a delicious roast beef sandwich which was a special today. It was filling, really good, and reasonably priced. The lemon ricotta cake is a light, refreshing dessert. We were able to sit and have a leisurely lunch. We will definitely be back. It’s a great meeting spot between NJ and CT.

    Brunch items were mostly delicious. We had five diners. One dish arrived cold and they kindly re-made it for her. Service was very slow, however and required several reminders. The noise level was quite loud. With outside vewis of the Hudson, unfortunately we were cramped inside without a view. This was a shame since my own dish was outstanding.

    Great food as usual but the cocktail is a little water down and the glass is getting smaller while the price of the drinks go up. We always love to come back here for brunch .

    I’ve never been impressed with the food. Probably been 10x. The rooftop is fun when it’s warm for drinks. I’d say the decor really needs an update. View is nice the first 3 times but not that exciting. Drinks are not great. I’d say it’s food, drink and ambiance are college bar level but very elevated. Service is an 8 and decor has never been changed since opening(my guess).
