   I booked a Mother’s Day meal for my wife and mother-in-law. The restaurant asked us to pre-order a three-course meal before arriving. We’d originally booked an outdoor table but asked to move inside due to strong winds. Despite plenty of space indoors, they refused to change our table. We waited 25 minutes before anyone took our drinks order, and another 50 minutes before our starters arrived — even though we’d pre-ordered. Overall, the experience was disappointing. I’ve been here several times and usually had a great time, but I won’t return after this. The only positive was the waitress, who was very apologetic. The maître d’, however, was rude. I wasn’t expecting five-star service — it’s just a pub — but today was unacceptable.

   Poor service, didn't have any cutlery. Had to go ask for it while kids waiting to eat. Food and drinks took a long time to come. Service charge added to our bill without consent.

   The food was very nice, I had the chicken kyiv on the new menu and it was highly enjoyable, I recommend!!

   From the first friendly greeting as we entered to the friendly smile as we left, it was a very, very lovely experience. We’re lucky enough to be there when they had just brought in their new menu which as people who enjoy good food I can only say how wonderful that was. We will most definitely be returning to try some more of the new menu.

   A great meal, in a beautiful location. We have been to this restaurant a few timesa, the staff are so professional and the food is like home cooked. Clean, good facilities and the pricing works with the food and ambience. We will definitely come back and share our evening with family and friends.

   A Fantastic Lunch Experience! I had an absolutely wonderful lunch at The Red Lion Grantchester! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The drinks were equally impressive—well-crafted, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. Whether you’re looking for a classic cocktail, a great selection of wines, or a refreshing non-alcoholic option, they have something for everyone. Beyond the food and drinks, the service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. I highly recommend The Red Lion Grantchester and can’t wait to return!

    I have eaten at The Red Lion a few times; it’s far from home but it’s a good meet point with friends who live far away. The pub itself is lovely, in a quaint village and really nice surroundings. Bonus that it has a slide / climbing frame in the garden for the kids. Today wasn’t a great day. The service was poor, the sternness of the lady taking our order, very unfriendly. Then they completely forgot one of our meals, didn’t even get an apology, it then arrived as everyone else was finishing. They still kept it on the bill, along with service! Of course asked for it to be taken off but again no apology for any of it. The roast itself was ok, nothing to write home about. I am not sure if I will return but if you are looking for a nice village pub with ok food then it’s fine
