   Xmas eve reservations. Were not told there was only prix fixe menu until after we had been sitting at table for over 20 minutes. Server did not know we were in her section until we flagged another waiter down. While there was plenty on the regular (unavailable) menu, nothing appealed to us or would have worked on limited menu due to shellfish and egg allergies. All of this could have been avoided by a note on website, open table or even a mention by the host as he seated us. Terrible management.

   Cape Codders are so happy to see the Roadhouse Cafe back to life. Up until the COVID Pandemic, The Roadhouse was a go-to for so many who wanted quality food at reasonable prices and a hometown ambiance served by a professional and friendly staff. Roadhouse performed an exceptional job for a busy Christmas Eve Dinner Service. We only wished the Holiday menu was mentioned on the website but nonetheless, the entrees and appetizers offered were quite good! The clam chowder was as good as ever and for me, a Cape Cod #1. Whether it was prime rib or lamb or the stuffed chicken breast, we all enjoyed our Christmas eve dinner. Our server was personable and conscientious allowing for a relaxed, no-rushed service. I do believe the next time I go, it will all be a 5 star experience and the only reason for one less star is because of the holiday which limited the gastronomic experience as well as attention to the personalized preparation. I am looking forward to enjoying many more celebrations and dinner engagements at the Roadhouse.

   We were not told it would be a prix fixe. Service was nice but extremely slow. The rezzies were over booked for staff and kitchen had much difficulty. Will go back on a less crazy night.

   Food was excellent. It was Christmas Eve. They were expecting a crowd. We went on the early end. We were the only ones seated in a very empty and cold area and yet other areas were bustling and there were fireplaces on to enjoy. Sitting near one of those would have been lovely, but I get they needed to spread out guests among the staff. Would ask to sit in a different spot next time. Will return though, when something other than the price fix menu is being offered. They did nail everything they offered. Haven’t tasted a better filet in many years. Desserts were to die for. Worth every penny and more.

   It started off perfect. It was a special Christmas dinner with our niece and nephew from MI which we look forward to every year. ( Two days before Christmas.). The atmosphere was cheery and cozy. The fireplace was roaring and the jazz band and singer were entertaining. The wine, appetizers and main meal were delicious. This is where the wheels went off. We waited for our desserts (preordered from a prefix menu) and were waiting for approximately 20 minutes before our waitress came back to ask us if we had gotten desserts. When we said “no,” she disappeared for another 15 and came back to apologize that the kitchen was very backed up but they would be out soon. Another 10-15 minutes went by and we went looking for her and explained that it had been 45 minutes and we’d like them taken off the bill. She said she would speak to the manager. She came back and dropped our bill off with no greeting or explanation. We saw that we were comped $9/dessert and closed our tab out. She never came back to the table and the manager never bothered to check in with us or apologize either. Although the food and atmosphere were excellent, we left with a bad taste in our mouth.

   It was our 2nd time there and it was just as delicious!!! Thrilled to have it back open hoping for a piano player soon!!!

    We were so excited when the Roadhouse Cafe reopened with new owners. They have done an outstanding job of keeping the quality of dining and service on the same level. Food choices were excellent. Preparation was perfect. Service was outstanding. We purposely chose to visit an evening that they have a jazz group performance. Outstanding! A wonderful evening.
