   Roly’s is famous and rightly so for all the right reasons - excellent service and excellent food. The main dining room is lovely decorated like a French bistro with nicely spaced tables. The service was perfect from the moment we arrived when our costs were taken. immediately we sat down we were offered water and given the drinks and food menu. Within a few minutes we were offered a choice of breads and had ordered our wine - a reasonably priced Pinot Grigio which my partner was offered to taste soon afterwards. We ordered our food which also was served within 5-10 minutes - pate and mushroom soup - both excellent. For mains we chose venison and salmon both excellent. Portions were medium sized but cooked to perfection. We shared sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert. We really enjoyed our visit to Roly’s and highly recommend that you try it

   I recently booked a table at Roly's Bistro through OpenTable and received a confirmation. I called the restaurant to amend the time of my booking, and during the call, I had to repeat and spell my name six times while explaining the change. After speaking to two people, I was informed that my booking wasn't there. A new booking was made for the requested time, and all seemed fine. Upon arriving at the restaurant at the specified date and time, I was greeted by a rude concierge who almost dressed me down with his eyes. He asked me to repeat my name four times and claimed he couldn't see my reservation, though it was clearly visible to me. He finally found my reservation and very rudely called a staff member to show me to my table. The staff seemed very unhappy, and it was rare to see a staff member with a smile on their face. The food was served in a rush, and my main course of battered hake and chips appeared reheated. The batter was soggy, the chips were lukewarm, and the mushy peas seemed microwaved. The only enjoyable part was the pint of Heineken. I doubt I'll return to Roly's Bistro.

   What is disappointment. It took 35 minutes for us to get our wine order( which was wrong).The meal was overpriced. The bill was incorrect. When we queried the price of the wine, we were told it was an old wine menu. While our bill was rectified, we were disheartened and bitterly disappointed

   Classic place for a business lunch. Good service, good menu with a great selection of options. Restaurant was very quiet for. a Friday which was a real shame, as the atmosphere was impacted. We enjoyed it though and will likely be back.

    Food was good, not amazing. Service was friendly but very slow towards the end. Had to wait a good while to get bill, then to pay for bill. Weren’t offered tea/coffee or asked if we wanted anything else after dessert.
