Rossoblu celebrates chef Steve Samson’s two home cities, Los Angeles and Bologna, Italy. The menu features house made salumi, soulful pastas, market produce, and wood grilled fish and meats.

Located in downtown’s City Market South, the site of Los Angeles’s original produce market, Rossoblu’s vaulted dining room and open kitchen create a festive dining environment. The restaurant’s private outdoor piazza allows al fresco diners to feel far removed from the nearby city bustle. An intimate basement wine cellar can be reserved for private parties.

Michael treated us to the best Valentine’s Day experience ever! The food and service was outstanding, the best that the 6 of us have ever experienced. He ensured we received the VIP treatment, gave us a full restaurant history and a tour to see the kitchen, pasta making section, wine storage and back of 🏠 house operations! From people who have spent time eating our way through Italy, we loved the authentic dishes in this former warehouse which was the center of the LA Farmers Market! ❤️

Food was over priced and quality was very poor . It was lacking flavor. Nothing I ordered was edible . The pasta was undercooked, very hard . The meat was very fatty . Soup tasted tasted like watered down chicken broth . Service was good though.

We visited for our wedding anniversary on a Sunday evening. There were couples and families dining and the noise level was moderate. The food was amazing, we ordered a pizza to share, risotto, and rib eye, plus few desserts. Everything was delicious and the servers were thoughtful and timed everything well. There is a large scale mural in the restaurant and we had a terrific few of it. We would definitely go again during the day for the food and to see the mural once again.

Incredible service that really understood the menu and wine list. I celebrated a birthday and they met me in that celebration. Quality was matched with inspired food. Maltagliata pasta is next level!

Does anyone know how to make good food anymore? Does anyone care? This restaurant simply has terrible food, and it's built a grandiose museum-like space in a desperate attempt to confuse diners into expecting a great meal. This is buttressed with an enormous social media presence crowing its name and parading around the name of the executive chef, who evidently is impervious to the pain of charlatanism. In light of Rossoblu's posturing as a big player in sexy, high end DTLA dining scene, it is the worst restaurant I have visited in Los Angeles in years. We attended as a party of 4, and with our server's help managed to order about 1/3 of the entire menu. It consisted of some of the laziest ideas imaginable in this genera of food, family-style Italian - a style not generally known for its creativity, but they managed to disappoint anyway. We were still unprepared for the unbelievably poor execution of these lazy ideas, which is what really sets Rossoblu apart from the million other lazy Italian restaurants phoning-it-in around LA. The theme of the night was stale, old, wilted, sad food - the opposite of fresh, in other words. Every dish strongly suggested food that was recently massaged half-frozen out of a bag and reheated. Stale food has such a specific, unmistakable quality, like what's available at the airport, or Costco, or a frozen TV dinner. My family and I have a great love for food, so the last time I can remember eating food like this was Cheesecake Factory when I was a little boy. Truly wretched. Avoid.

My girlfriend and I made last-minute reservations for New Year’s Eve and were fortunate to secure a spot. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and seated at a fantastic table with a view of both the kitchen and dining room. Watching the kitchen in action was mesmerizing—like witnessing a chef conducting an orchestra. We started with focaccia bread, grilled over an open flame and served with a salted brown butter that complemented it perfectly. Next, we enjoyed the meatballs, which were tender with a great char. The tomato sauce was well-balanced and an ideal appetizer. For the main course, we had the special lobster and pasta. The pasta was cooked to perfection with just the right bite, and the lobster was moist and paired beautifully with the dish. We also tried the grilled pancetta, which was packed with flavor, and the crispy pork skin added an excellent texture. For dessert, we had the tiramisu. While not traditional, it was the perfect conclusion to the meal—light, flavorful, and enhanced by an excellent chocolate syrup. This was truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The chef and staff created an unforgettable dining experience. We can’t wait to return with a larger group to explore even more of the menu!
