For ninety-eight years, New York's defining cultural moments have taken place at Russian Tea Room. Ever since members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1926, it has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite-an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and businessmen planned their next deals and feted their friends' latest Carnegie Hall performances.

First time dining here and was quite excited as I am a native russian. To my surprise, the Food is quite poor. This place is obviously just going through the motions and no longer cares about food quality or authenticity. Hiring a russian chef may help you, having the proper amount of mayonnaise in the most famous russian salad would be a good idea. (Barely had any). Tiny portions and high prices I can live with, but the food just tastes bad and I would simply never return. $400 spent for 2 and left highly disappointed.

The pre-theater menu was a good idea. The prices were much lower than the standard menu. The quality of the food was very good. The service was slow, but overall, we enjoyed the experience very much. Before you go, check the regular menu before you make a reservation because the prices are incredibly high. An example is $28 for a bowl of French Onion Soup

Gorgeous interiors. I can see why Mad Men filmed here. Rude and inattentive servers. The food is good but for the price tag there should really be a next level hospitality experience from the staff.

Andrea was our waiter and she was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I did a flight of their vodkas- very nice experience. I would recommend the Jewel of Russia. We had the stroganoff, duck and sea bass. It was all wonderful but the duck was over the top!! Dessert wise- very disappointed in the Baked Alaska but the blintzes did not disappoint. Abbey, manager made us feel very welcome and valued. Highly recommend!!

Living off the memory of the original Russian Tea Room (founded 1927) this hokey, touristy re-creation nonetheless delivers surprisingly good ambiance, service and food. Ordinarily would never have gone (usually avoid tourist spots like the plague) but some friends went last month and urged us to go. Not at all disappointed.

Beautiful dining room. Portion sizes are very small, but the food was very good. Service was scant, and ours was the first table out of the kitchen.

We really enjoyed our meal. The ambiance was wonderful. Superb service and excellent food. I would go here again. The best part is that it was not crowded and not noisy like other NYC restaurants. This was for dinner on a Monday night.

We were so excited to go to the iconic Russian Tea Room. Our waiter wasn’t interested in being welcoming or kind. He turned what could have been an awesome experience into a barely marginal experience. We wouldn’t go back.
