   The ambiance was so lovely and warm! It was our first time visiting for a birthday celebration, and even though we arrived close to closed kitchen time, the food was prepared with great care and had amazing flavor. The only downside was that our server seemed a bit rude—maybe it had been a long day?—and wasn’t welcoming.

   I went to Ryal during DineLA week. They had an amazing tasting menu deal where you got to select two different courses with coffee included for $35. I chose to get the Japanese pancake and Taiwanese crepe as my courses. The pancake is giant, super fluffy, and comes with an amazing yuzu syrup and blueberry compote. The Taiwanese crepe was equally delicious and filled with egg, cheese, scallions, and bacon. It's served with a dark soy sauce on the side which was a nice dipping sauce. I would highly recommend Ryla to anyone looking for a great brunch in Hermosa. It's also located right by the pier and beach so you can go on a nice walk after your filling meal.

   Overall it was a good experience, I just thought the food was very heavy, way too rich (Japanese egg salad avocado toast, ramen, Taiwanese pancake). I would have loved to see something lighter, not everyone needs to nurse their hangover at brunch.

   Kim was amazing! She had great recs, and service was outstanding. DineLA brunch and Ryla’s alcoholic drinks were good. Thank you for making our birthday celebrations so memorable.

    Arrived on time for reservation and table before us took almost 30 mins after our booking time to clear out. Usually restaurants would comp a drink or appetizer for the wait but we barely had space so sit on some stools by the door. The hostess was hesitant to even let us sit there to order drinks although the bar was full already so we had nowhere else inside to wait. Food was ok, portions were small for American standards, feeding a small female was enough but my two guy friends were still hungry afterwards and was able to eat another meal after. Disappointing experience for a Michelin recommend restaurant.
