Bringing new life to St James’s with classic French dishes and modern creations, the Saint Jacques seasonal menu blends tradition and innovation to suit all tastes – from Richard’s legendary tableside prepared Steak Tartare to a decadent fondant au chocolat.

Saint Jacques’ interior amalgamates the characteristics of a warm traditional brasseries with a vibrant and fresh aesthetic. Key features include the light and airy main dining area, where the clean and organic design coupled with the floral artwork complements the local and seasonal ingredients used. I only ever eat one dish at St Jacques, the Veal kidneys on Calvados on a bed of creamed spinach. It is delicious. The staff are polite and attentive; the maître d' is a character; the acoustics are excellent and there is still enough elbow room to feel your table is individual. A first rate experience....

Visited Saint Jacques again for my partner’s birthday as he says they serve the best steak tartare he’s ever had. I can also vouch for the crepe Suzette which were delicious.

We decide to take Foie gras as a start , the brioche was burnt and damage the taste of the Foie gras, we reported the problem to the manager , who did not apologise, just said he will pass our comment to the chef . Very poor customer service. It was my favourite restaurant, but not any longer . Aldo they had a donation of £1 without explanation. We are both really disappointed.

On a cold Monday evening in January it’s hard to produce an atmosphere in a half empty restaurant. Credit to the staff and kitchen for maintaining their high standards of service and style. Excellent French cuisine highlights being the tempura Monkfish and chocolate fondant. Lovely wine list.

Jacques is a rarity, a genuine French bistro where all the staff are actually French, and the cooking as well! Perfect for a business lunch or lunch with old friends with plenty of great wine!
