Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

Biodynamic winemaker Bàrbara Mesquida Mora will be traveling from her vineyards on the island of Mallorca to join us for a pairing dinner featuring five of her wines (and a few others, just for fun). Chef Andy will prepare six courses to match. Bàrbara is a pioneer in regenerative farming on the island, and after leaving her family business to strike out on her own, she has come to tend several parcels of vines including both indigenous and international grape varieties. Her wines are elegant and food-friendly, and we're delighted to welcome her to Detroit. We hope you'll join us!

The chef here is clearly an artist . The food is excellent with wonderful combinations of flavors and textures. The presentation although simple, is a work of art. The spirits pairing make perfect sense with the meal selections. This is a place to go for a special gastronomic experience.

We always enjoy Selden. It was our son’s birthday and everything was great. One of our favorite places to dine. We sat in the quieter room which we like best. The food is creative and super delicious. The duck confit was outstanding! The service is top notch.

The cocktails our party of 4 had were excellent. The slightly-grilled romaine lettuce salad we shared (draped with anchovies!) was also excellent; the grilled mushrooms were but average. Our entrees - lots of pasta and the octopus - were great. Service was great, including the wine recommendation. Overall, still a great dining spot!

Food was incredible and the server we had was so polite and helpful! We sat at the chefs counter which was cool to see but being in front of the hot grill was a bit much!
