When Ross Magnaye and Shane Stafford started Serai, their vision was to create a restaurant that would fit perfectly in the heart of the Philippines. To replicate the spirit, vitality, passion and sense of fun, they knew Serai would become a home from home for our diners.

​At our restaurant, right in the heart of Melbourne, you can watch the chefs prepare and fresh food daily in our open kitchen at the chef’s omakase table or relax in the restaurant and bar with a glass of our hand picked, vin naturel selections or signature cocktails.

    Join us for the release of Sonnen's 2024 Vintage. This special lunch will include 5 courses with matching wines. Sonnen is the brainchild of Luke Andree, a talented Tasmanian viticulturist also renowned for his work at Pressing Matters. His winemaking started in Victoria with Boomtown Cooperative, with stints at Oakridge, Mac Forbes, and even studying Riesling in Germany at Weingut Melsheimer. Luke started his own wine label in 2020 called Sonnen, a tribute to his German heritage, which means to bask in the sun. Luke's wines reflect his deep connection to Tasmania's vineyards, blending his detailed winemaking techniques with everything he's learned along the way. Due to the nature of this event, we are unable to cater to dietaries.

    I had a fantastic birthday lunch here. The food was amazing and the service was even better. We were looked after so well and had a great long lunch. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks for a great birthday

    Modern Filipino food done to perfection. Service here was impecable, very attentive and friendly, explaining each dish to us as it came out. And did I mention the cocktails? Every single one was a massive hit!

    We returned with some ‘foodie’ friends for the second time and were not disappointed. The food is rich in flavour and so different to any other dining experience I’ve had in Melbourne. The discreet location is great and the service, unbeatable. Definitely recommend, especially the roo marrow and sisig.

    This was our first time at Serai having heard really good things about this restaurant. As someone who doesn’t eat pork, I was initially a little apprehensive about how this could be managed given pork’s ubiquity in Filipino cuisine - fear not! Wonderful seafood and veg dishes and interesting pork numbers for my two pork-eating friends. Great service too, with an extensive wine list for all tastes and most budgets. I’ll be back :)
