Shinsei Restaurant - Traditional Sushi / Contemporary Asian Kitchen

When we came up with the concept of Shinsei we wanted a place that reflected our lifestyles: sometimes we went out to dinner with our kids and sometimes with our friends and husbands. We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal.

But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Our signature poppers, for instance, are a sophisticated mix of late night bar food and sumptuous finger food with a distinctly Asian flair.

    Once again we had an excellent dinner experience at Shinsei. Although quite noisy, the service and food continue to be excellent. The menu appears to have changed, but the choices are broad. The small entree order of short ribs was sufficient for my wife; the barbecue sauce excellent and the meat tender. Great choice! The seared scallops from the Valentine menu were large, perfectly cooked and the mushrooms superb! You will need reservations for Saturday after 5:30pm. Will return!!!!

    Service was slow and inconsistent. When ordering sushi rolls at $20 each and have them come out to the table more than 20 min apart when ordered for 3 people at the same time is ridiculous.

    Our sushi chef, Master Sushi Chef Elvis, served us outstanding sashimi and sushi. We even caught up with our long-time favorite server Tammy, who helped even though not assigned to our section. It was a memorable evening. Thank you. <(–:

    When we’re new to an area, we typically go to Open Table for reservations. We looked up restaurants nearby and found this one. We sat at the sushi counter. So, we had entertainment with a fine meal. The chefs were real pros. We have ordered sushi all over the world, but these men used materials, ingredients, and forming methods that were new to us. Casey our server was excellent as well. We enjoyed the evening…the food and the floor show (the chefs). Look for the green light to find the restaurant. They also have valet parking.
