   My fiance and I went here for our anniversary. I was greeted by the hostess staring at the iPad, then slowing looking up to me and saying “do you need something?”, like I was interrupting her. Have never been greeted by a hostess like this before. I politely responded “yes, I have a reservation”. This was a disappointing start out visit. Our waitress, I believe her name was Karissa- she was wonderful. The food was okay, I would rate it a 6/10. I ordered the cubano and the sandwich was so skinny after being cut in half and falling apart, I had to use a fork and knife to eat it- all the ham and bacon was only on 1 half, the other half had just cheese and pickles- the pork had completely fallen off and was next to the sandwich. The view was beautiful, but due to the rude hostess and food quality- I wouldn’t come here again. There are plenty other ocean view restaurants in the area with better food and service.

   We had a pretty nice dinner experience at the Shorebird with it being our first visit there. Just a warning, if you park in the parking structure, make sure you use the elevator to get to the restaurant. (My husband took a tumble walking up the ramp that goes down into the structure as the incline is steep.) The food was great...we had the Caesar Salad, Salmon filet and Filet Mignon with asparagus. The only thing we missed was not having any bread with our meal (just "food for thought" for the restaurant manager). Our server was beyond helpful, pleasant and sweet. I wish I had her name (it wasn't given to us) or I'd give her kudos on this review.

   We celebrated my daughter 21 st Birthday and had wonderful service and food. The Balboa Roll delish and the Burger is one of the best I have ever had. Thank you for a great time.

   I made a reservation 3 months early and requested a table on the patio near the water and listed the allergies for the table to inform the kitchen staff ahead of time. When I got there, the lady tried seating us near the bar. I reminded her that we requested a table on the patio closest to the water. She said it was not a problem and that they had a table ready there. We get to the patio area and there were two open tables available and instead of sitting us at one of those tables, she sat us inside next to the employee door. We decided just to sit where she sat us, not a big deal. When the waiter came, I informed him of my allergies and was told there wasn’t many options that accommodated my allergies. After order food, the waiter came back two times (after having written down my allergies) asking what the allergies were. I appreciate him being thorough but he wrote it down two times and still did not have my three food allergies correct. Once we got the food, we were disappointed with the portion size and the flavor of the food given how expensive the food is. The skirt steak was flavorless, the chicken tacos were mediocre at best, the asparagus was burnt, and the fries tasted like Carl’s Jr. The one item that had great flavor and we actually enjoyed, believe it or not, was the Smoked Ketchup. If you are gluten free, nut free, or allergic to avocado, I would highly recommend skipping out on this place, unless you enjoy salmon or sword fish.

Yesterday was an extremely busy day, with every table turning over multiple times. While we strive to honor requests, final seating is based on availability at the time of arrival. Our team confirmed your allergies multiple times to ensure accuracy and safety, which is standard practice to prevent any risk. While we offer a variety of options for dietary restrictions, we understand that individual preferences vary. Regarding portion sizes and flavor, we stand by the quality and value of our ingredients. Almost all guests enjoy our menu and overall experience, as reflected in the overwhelming number of positive reviews we receive.
