   I had been waiting so long to get a reservation and I wax finally able to and I was so excited to see it and experience it for myself- and I going to say that I LOVE the aesthetics of the restaurant/speak easy - it gives me that old time but modernized speak easy feel. Anyway the SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE and Carla I believe that's what her name was - was unconcerned, inattentive and neglectful- it was a horrible dining experience- she either ignored our table on purpose or the few tables she did have overwhelmed her - but I talked to the couple behind me and the manager and they experienced the same bad service I did - I enjoyed the food - I know next time if I return to order everything at once from the starters, salads, entree, desert and drinks order in multiples because you won't see your waitress again until it's time to pay the bill - no water refills - nothing - don't come hungry because it's going to be along time before you eat ANYTHING

   Kyndall is an amazing server and extremely helpful. Atmosphere is was truly amazing; had great soft jazz from live band. The chicken caviar sliders are great and enjoyed the collard greens lasagna. The short rib was mid and herb chicken could use a little more seasoning but overall great experience.

   Great service and really enjoyed the ambience. Loved the live jazz set on Friday evening! Our cocktail was lovely!

   Where do I begin... First, I want to thank the host for allowing me to keep my reservation. I made the reservation with the intent of arriving on time, but both my initial flight and connecting flight were delayed, which caused me to arrive in L.A. later than expected. I called the restaurant to see if my reservation time could be pushed back, but there was no answer. I understood—it was a busy week and the weekend of the Kendrick concert. I explained the situation to my friend and family member and told them they should go ahead and keep the reservation. It was too late to cancel, and the entire weekend was booked. My cousin said not to worry; she would explain everything to the host—and she did when she arrived. He told her not to worry and that we could still keep our reservation, just to arrive as soon as I could. When I got there, I met my guests at the bar, and we were seated at our table within a few minutes. Every dish and drink we ordered was amazing. My cousin and friend thanked me for choosing the restaurant, but there was no need—I didn’t expect anything less from a place with Issa Rae’s name attached to it. From the amazing service to the great food and delicious drinks, we will definitely be back. An added plus was having our waitress tell us how happy she was to have a restaurant like this in the neighborhood she grew up in. We need more Somerville's around the world—in our own backyards. Kudos to everyone who made our night super special.

   Beautiful restaurant, please make reservations before hand, we tried to call to modify our reservations several times (from the time they open) no answer. once we arrived late, they sat us at the bar but we saw open seating. Customer service was good not great. The roasted chicken was dry as hell but the Brussel sprouts and chicken and caviar sliders were good. The Dunbar was also good. Overall, I’d go back but it won’t be my first option.

   Overall it was a great experience. The food and ambiance was quite enjoyable. We had to wait a bit even with a reservation and the service was a bit lackluster but I’d definitely recommend and would go back.

   Being a Hilltop and Downtown Dough fan, I had to visit Somerville! The food was amazing, the ambiance, the live music. Im sadden to say that my experience with the service was not the best and for that i can’t give it a 5/5. Upon entry I was confused on how their system worked and the host outside did not explain much. I waited at the bar for a maybe 10 mins for my table. No sever greeted us for maybe 25 minutes. One of the managers came over and apologized and once our server arrived 25m later she still was not ready to greet us, just apologized again and ran off. I spoke to my server maybe 3 times because she was all over the place. I believe i just got unlucky. Most of the other servers seemed attentive. I was with a friend celebrating her birthday. I informed the server and she told me although they don’t do complimentary, she could put a candle and whatever dessert we chose. Long story short, we did not get a candle which really saddens me because other tables around us were. We were at our table for about two hours and 15 minutes, but the food came out quick and we could’ve been out and maybe 45 minutes.

    Unfortunately…. We had to leave and did not get the opportunity to try the food or drinks. We left because we weren’t acknowledged. I had a reservation for 7:00. Still had to wait to be seated while the seated everyone who came in AFTER us. Once finally seated, it took a few minutes to get our menus and water. After that, our server never returned. Instead, he took the orders of those seated after us. So with this, we decided to leave. What a way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! So disappointed……. I made this reservation months in advance only to have to go somewhere else at the last minute.
