                                                                                        Some of my party ran late, and they graciously moved our reservation. The Pimento cheese was delicious, as was the shrimp and grits. We had an 8-year-old with us, and they had crayons for her.

The bread was so burnt I was concerned there were nuts in it (allergies) there weren’t. After waiting 20 minutes for my drink (that the server took 5 minutes to confirm they had everything to make upon ordering) I was informed they were out of key ingredients, were running to get the rest, and it’d be a few more minutes. It was supposed to be a Hennessy margarita. It tasted like rubbing alcohol. It was $25. The non-burnt food was meh. We won’t be back, but the server was SUPER sweet.

                                                                                        I have been a regular customer here since they opened this location. I have to admit, the new preparations of their traditional items doesn't thrill me. Way too many things added to the main entree. The beauty of their food was its southern simplicity. With the new preparations, there a ton of stuff added (e.g., their trout entree with away too much fennel; or the new egg white frittata--way too many things added; or the chicken livers with sweet potatoes). While the new preparations are "just okay", I find myself looking for other restaurant options where I don't have to experiment with new preparations of my favorite items.

                                                                                        Unfortunately our Thanksgiving meal was underwhelming. Although our server, Xander, was delightful, the meal was rushed, timing of delivery was mismatched, and food was good but not great. While we understand that the restaurant has to charge higher prices for “holiday” meals, the overall effect was less than enjoyable. I dare say we will not dine at South City again.

                                                                                        This was the worst takeout Thanksgiving dinner. The local green salad consisted of 2 boxes of mixed greens. No dressing or accompaniments. While we did get turkey mashed potatoes and dressing, absolutely no gravy. This was a disgrace. Mixing up a dressing now. Will cook for myself in the future.
