   The food was very good, but the lunch portion sizes are way too big. We could have gone with just ordering appetizers to share. The sandwiches came with so much fries, it was ridiculous. I took half of my entree back to have for lunch tomorrow. The music was soft and the noise level too so it was easy to talk to your meal companions. Would come here again for a special occasion as the prices are a little too high for everyday for me.

   Great waiter. Great appetizers - fried green tomatoes and hush puppies. Our entrees were not great unfortunately. The grits in Shrimp & Grits were so watery we couldn’t eat the grits with our forks. My son’s fried chicken was extremely salty, almost inedible. We were seated right by the front entrance. It was a disappointing meal overall.

   This Southern cuisine restaurant is located in a stunning hotel, and the ambiance alone makes it worth a visit. The food is flavorful and beautifully presented, staying true to classic Southern traditions. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the portion sizes have gotten noticeably smaller while the prices have increased. While the quality is still there, the value for money just isn’t what it used to be. It’s a great spot for a special occasion, but I’d love to see a better balance between cost and quantity in the future.

   Service was slow with few tables occupied. While the live music was a nice touch it was too loud for conversation The food was "fine", would not be worth the price except it is Avalon and everything is at least 25% higher priced than is justified. A 20% tip was automatically added to the bill.......with slow service.......

   Our server Philip was outstanding. He knew the menu and was helpful with giving recommendations. We absolutely loved the fried green tomatoes. My husband had the shrimp and grits which she said was delicious. The sauce is very good and flavorful without being overpowering and I did the fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were excellent, and the chicken was juicy yet still crispy as well. Definitely a date night and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We will be back.

    Ordered the chopped salad with fried chicken. The chicken was dry and overcooked. Otherwise salad was fine.
